Administrators using the Microsoft 365 admin center and Teams admin center who manage agents and apps that work across Teams, Outlook and the Microsoft 365 copilot will be able to apply their changes consistently across all these surfaces. Before this update, changes made through the Integrated Apps section in the Microsoft 365 admin center would only affect these apps on Outlook and the Microsoft 365 copilot; similarly, changes made in the Teams admin center would exclusively affect Teams. With this change, app and agent availability will be unified across Teams, Outlook and Microsoft 365 copilot.

Windows Backup for Organizations will be generally available in Intune with controls for backing up and restoring backups in OOBE. Backup and restore experience of user settings, especially for enterprises transitioning to Windows 11.

Starting October 27, 2025, Office Scripts settings for Excel will move from the Microsoft 365 admin center to the Microsoft 365 Cloud Policy service. Admins must manage three specific settings there; if unchanged, they default to enabled. No compliance issues identified; review and reconfigure as needed.

The Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel Preview for Microsoft 365 Apps ends support on September 9, 2025, with the August 2025 update as the last. Admins must transition devices to Monthly Enterprise or Current Channel, as updates will cease and no automatic changes will occur.

Organizations using explicit domain whitelisting for Microsoft Whiteboard must immediately add whiteboard.svc.cloud.microsoft to their firewall rules to avoid service disruptions, as Whiteboard now operates under the cloud.microsoft domain. No action is needed if *.cloud.microsoft is already whitelisted.

Microsoft Fabric will introduce multitasking improvements in early September 2025, including horizontal tabs, multiple open workspaces with color coding, an Object Explorer, and a raised open item limit. These changes enhance workflow efficiency and apply only to Fabric, not Power BI. No action is needed now.

Microsoft Copilot in Word will add document statistics like author, last modified date, and open count to the Dynamic Document Snapshot’s Activity tab. This feature, rolling out worldwide in September 2025, is on by default, requires no admin setup, and enhances collaboration by providing easy access to document insights.

Microsoft Viva Connections mobile will introduce an AI audio briefing feature providing summaries of top news with playback controls. Available mid-September to November 2025, it requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, is on by default, and needs no user configuration.

Starting September 2025, Copilot-licensed users will have their monthly transcription quota increased from 300 to 30,000 minutes in Word and OneNote. The change requires no admin action, applies per user, and may increase AI interaction with customer data without altering data storage or retention policies.
