Retirement of Organization administrator and Team administrator roles in Viva Goals

In an effort to simplify the access and permissions landscape in Viva Goals, we will be retiring the ‘Organization admin’ and ‘Team admin’ roles in Viva Goals.

When this will happen:

This change will be rolled out in mid-February 2024 and expected to complete by mid-March 2024.

How this will affect your organization:

You are receiving this message because our reporting indicates your organization may have assigned users as an Organization admin or a Team admin in your Viva Goals instance. Once this change is rolled out, the following changes will happen:

  • The roles of Organization admin and Team admins will not be available to be assigned to users.
  • Viva Goals will instead support the assignment of multiple Organization owners and Team owners. Organization owners and Team owners will be able to exercise the responsibilities of Organization admins and Team admins respectively.
  • Existing Organization admins will be converted to Organization owners and existing Team admins will be converted to Team owners for their respective Organizations and Teams.

What you need to do to prepare:

It is recommended that Tenant admins do the following to prepare for this change:

  • Inform all Organization admins and Team admins in your Viva Goals instance of the impending change.
  • Emphasize to the Organization and Team admins that there will be no change in the functionality of their roles. They will just be converted (Name change) to Organization owners and Team owners respectively.
