Retirement of the Microsoft Secure Score advanced feature setting

We’re making some changes to the Microsoft Secure Score advanced feature setting. This setting was originally created as a way to forward Microsoft Defender for Endpoint signals to Microsoft Secure Score which gave Microsoft Secure Score visibility into the device security posture.

  • Defender for Endpoint customers would enable this one-time setting in the Microsoft 365 Defender portal by going to Settings > Endpoints > Advanced features > Microsoft Secure Score.

When will this happen:

Starting mid-February, we’ll begin the removal of the opt-in toggle for enabling data flow from one product to another which was added due to privacy requirements.

  • When retired, this data will flow for all the tenants automatically.

Note: Now, this requirement is not relevant anymore and all tenants can have this data flow enabled by default.

How this will affect your organization:

In most cases, this change won’t affect the Microsoft Secure Score experience. If the setting wasn’t previously turned on and your subscription includes Defender for Endpoint, then improvement actions related to device security will be added to Secure Score and impact your score.

What you need to do to prepare:

No further action is needed but you might want to update your training and documentation as appropriate.
