Ending support for custom profiles for personally owned work profile devices in April 2025

In April 2025, Microsoft Intune will stop supporting custom profiles for Android Enterprise personally owned work profile devices. Admins should transition to equivalent settings in the Intune admin center and review the blog for detailed information and preparation steps.

All installed agents (including erstwhile Microsoft 365 Copilot plugins) can now be accessed via one location in Copilot

All Microsoft 365 Copilot agents, including plugins, are being centralized to the right pane for a unified user experience. Web content control is moving to the top screen menu. The updates will roll out from late November 2024 to January 2025, requiring no action from admins.

Entra ID: Expansion of WhatsApp as an MFA one-time passcode delivery channel

Starting December 2024, Microsoft Entra will reintroduce WhatsApp as a channel for delivering MFA OTPs in India, with expansion to more countries. Users with WhatsApp will receive OTPs there, with SMS as a fallback. Organizations can disable this feature or opt for more secure methods like Microsoft Authenticator.

Microsoft Viva Insights: Admins assign delegate access

Microsoft Viva Insights will soon allow admins to assign or remove delegates for managers using PowerShell cmdlets. This feature, associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 464207, will roll out between mid-November 2024 and late January 2025. It will be off by default with no admin action required before rollout.

System generated emails from workflows and alerts will now show SharePoint Online as the sender display name

SharePoint Online system-generated emails from workflows and alerts will now display “SharePoint Online” as the sender name. This change, continuing from January 2024, requires updates to any Outlook rules based solely on the display name. The sending address remains no-reply@sharepointonline.com, and the rollout should complete by late November 2024.

Update to post-device registration readiness

Windows Autopatch is updating the ‘Modern Workplace – Autopatch Client Setup’ script to install a new application, ‘Windows Autopatch Client Broker’, for improved scalability and performance. The rollout starts early December and will replace the ‘Microsoft Cloud Managed Desktop Extension’. Organizations should allow the endpoint ‘device.autopatch.microsoft.com’ to prepare.

Microsoft new Outlook for Windows and Outlook for the web: Changing how to disable/enable

Microsoft is updating the process to enable/disable Outlook for Windows and Outlook for the web, with changes rolling out from late January to mid-February 2025. The OWAEnabled parameter will only affect Outlook for the web, while the OneWinNativeOutlookEnabled policy will manage new Outlook for Windows. No admin action is required before the rollout.
