Outlook Mobile: New in-app Contact editor

Outlook Mobile is rolling out a new Contact editor, replacing the device’s native editor. This will allow organizations to enforce Intune policies related to contact creation and editing, and reduce the dependency on Contact Syncing. The rollout will happen automatically by mid-May 2024, with no admin action required. Users may want to update their documentation and review their existing Intune policies.

Microsoft Clipchamp desktop app: Work account support

The Microsoft Clipchamp desktop app is introducing support for logins with Azure Active Directory/Entra ID accounts. This means that work accounts will be supported in the desktop app from version 3.x, which is being rolled out gradually to Microsoft 365 organizations. The rollout will begin early May 2024 and is expected to be completed by early June 2024. Users will not need to access Clipchamp from a web browser and can use the desktop app instead. Admins can manage the desktop app’s availability for users and the availability of Clipchamp’s personal and/or work versions in the desktop app.

Microsoft Outlook Mobile: Open a Teams Meeting chat from the calendar

Microsoft Outlook Mobile users will be able to open Teams Meeting chat directly from the meeting event on their Outlook mobile calendar. This feature will be rolled out in late April 2024 and will be completed by late May 2024. Users will be able to open the chat in the Teams Mobile app, and if the app is not installed, they will be linked to a page asking if they wish to download the Teams Mobile app. No admin action is required for this rollout.

License enforcement for Microsoft Purview Information Protection for sensitivity labels

Starting January 2024, new customers require specific licenses to use or continue using Information Protection sensitivity labels. Existing customers using sensitivity labels without the correct licenses will have a grace period until early April 2024. Admins and users who use Information Protection sensitivity labels need to have the required licenses assigned to them. Microsoft Loop: Guest Sharing

Microsoft Loop will soon allow business-to-business (B2B) guest sharing for workspaces, pages, and components, subject to administrator policy. Sensitivity labels for Loop workspaces, pages, and components will begin rolling out in the first half of 2024. Users within organizations will be able to share Loop workspaces, pages, and components with people outside of their tenant via B2B guest sharing. The rollout will happen automatically by the specified date with no admin action required.

Microsoft OneNote: New Sticky Notes app for Windows, available from OneNote app (preview)

Microsoft is introducing a new Sticky Notes app for Windows, built on the foundation of OneNote, which will make it easier to capture screenshots, add source information to notes, and more. The new app will replace the Feed feature in OneNote on Windows, and users will be able to access it through OneNote initially, with plans to make it available from the Windows Start menu and by toggling over from the existing Microsoft Sticky Notes app. The rollout will begin in mid-March 2024 and is expected to be completed by mid-May 2024. No action is needed from users to prepare for this rollout.

“User consent to apps” setting in the Microsoft 365 portal to be retired

The “User consent to Apps” setting in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center will be retired in early April 2024, and users are recommended to use the user consent settings in the Entra portal instead. No changes will be made to existing settings, but admins will no longer be able to edit the policy using the Microsoft 365 admin center. Users can set their tenant-wide user consent policy through the Entra portal. No preparation is needed, but users needing to view or edit their tenant-wide consent settings should use the experience in the Entra portal.

New Microsoft Outlook for Windows: Copy email as attachment is coming

Microsoft Outlook for Windows will soon allow users to copy an email and attach it to a new email. The rollout will begin in mid-March 2024 and is expected to complete by mid-April 2024. Users can now send longer emails as attachments instead of copying and pasting the entire thread. No action is needed to prepare for this rollout, but users should be notified of the change.

Microsoft Viva: Viva Pulse Admin Led Trial

Microsoft Viva Pulse Admin Led Trial is now available in the Microsoft Admin Center. Admin trials offer 25 users in an organization access to Viva Pulse for 30 days. The trial will be live worldwide in mid-March 2024. To activate the trial, the Microsoft 365 Global Admin or the Billing Admin can assign licenses and inform trial users to access Viva Pulse through Microsoft Teams or the web browser.
