Microsoft Teams: Separate policies to control transcription for Town halls and Webinars

Town halls and webinars will now have separate policies to allow or disable transcription in instances. Previously, the transcription policies for town halls and webinars automatically inherited the transcription policy set for meetings. This option to implement different policies for town hall and webinars is available for users on all licenses.

Authorized users will be able to enter into a monitoring session with selected agents for private coaching. They can listen to customer calls, whisper to the agents for private message, even barge into or takeover the call.

Microsoft Teams: Enhanced captions for Teams Rooms on Windows

Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows will soon support additional languages and translation for captions, enhancing accessibility for non-English speakers. Rollout begins mid-February 2025, with completion by mid-April 2025, depending on the sector. Admins can configure default settings, including turning on captions and filtering profanity.

Microsoft Teams: Live transcription for Teams Rooms on Windows

Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows will soon allow users to start/stop transcription and view it directly on the device, requiring a Teams Rooms Pro license. Rollouts begin mid-February 2025, with different dates for GCC, GCC High, and DoD. Admins can manage transcription permissions and settings.

Microsoft Teams: Forward messages with app cards

Microsoft Teams now allows forwarding of app cards across chats, excluding bot cards. This feature is part of the Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 469506 and will be available in Public Preview in early January 2025, with full rollout by early February 2025. Users need the latest Teams build to use this feature.

Microsoft Teams: Third-Party chat and meeting keyboard shortcut support

Users familiar with keyboard shortcuts used in 3rd party applications chat and meeting applications can utilize the same shortcuts in Teams. To do this, access the keyboard shortcuts dialog from the Settings and more button in the upper right, and select a communication or meeting layout. This enables users to apply the shortcuts they are accustomed to from 3rd party chat and meeting applications.

Microsoft Teams: Only meeting organizers, co-organizers, and transcript initiator can change spoken language setting

We’re changing the default permissions for who can set the spoken language for a meeting. Now, when transcription is enabled (whether by itself or when recording or Copilot are enabled) only the meeting organizer, co-organizer, and person who initiated the transcript can change the spoken language for the meeting. This is to ensure accurate transcription of everyone’s speech during the meeting since the spoken language setting and the spoken language used during discussion must match for transcript accuracy. If transcription is not enabled, all meeting participants will be able to change the meeting spoken language.

Microsoft Teams: Teams meeting Notes now available in Microsoft Teams for Education

Teams meeting Notes, powered by Loop, is now available in Microsoft Teams for Education. Notes are Loop components in Teams meetings and chats that allow end users to co-create and collaborate on their meeting agenda, notes, and action items that can be co-authored and edited by everyone. Since Notes are Loop components, they stay in sync across all the places they have been shared. Assigned Tasks automatically sync with ToDo and Planner.
