Organizers of town halls and webinars can now select and assign presenters to also be Q&A moderators, allowing them to manage and publish questions asked during the event. This feature lets organizers make changes to the group of moderators at any time, before or during the event, and it is available to all users organizing a town hall or webinar, regardless of license.

Microsoft Teams: Meeting recap can be shared via link

Meeting participants can now share a link to the meeting recap from the meeting thumbnail in chat and the recap tab, making it easier to reference and share the meeting recap insights with others. Meeting participants can share the meeting recap link with anyone in their organization, for those users who don’t have access to the recording or transcript, they need to request recording and transcript access before they can access the meeting recap.

Microsoft Teams: Email OTP verification for external participants to join meetings

Microsoft Teams will introduce email OTP verification for external participants to join meetings. Meeting organizers will have a new option to require email verification for anonymous participants. Tenant admins can manage this setting via a new policy in the Teams admin center. This feature will be available on various Teams platforms and is part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 418125. Rollout begins mid-January 2024 for Targeted Release and late March 2025 for General Availability. Admins should assess the impact and update meeting policies as needed.

Microsoft Teams admin center: Non-disruptive device operations for Microsoft Teams devices

Microsoft Teams: BYOD mode will activate cameras on meeting room audio devices

The Microsoft Teams BYOD mode update will automatically activate room cameras on audio devices with video components during meetings. This applies to Teams for Windows and Mac desktops, starting mid-January 2025, with full rollout by early February 2025. Organizations should inform users and review peripheral inventory.

The Files tab in channels is now “Shared”. In addition to files that are currently shown from document library, new experience will also show all the files and links shared in the channel conversations. This makes it easier to find content all in one place.
