Meeting organizers can have greater confidence about external attendees joining Teams meetings, this capability enables sending a one-time passcode to the external attendee’s email address for that individual to use during a verification step when joining a Teams meeting.

Decorate your background is a generative background effect in Teams that makes meetings more fun and personal by using AI to spruce up your meeting background. Blend your physical and digital spaces, enabling you to revamp what’s seen of your physical meeting space for each call. This technology allows for effortless room clean-ups, adding virtual plants, or festive decorations for special events. Decorate your background requires a Teams Premium license.
Microsoft Lists links in Teams including list item links and form links will now unfurl when shared in Teams messages making them easier to find and access within Teams messages and inside shared tab in chats.
Teams phone device users will be able to share access to their phone line with a specific group of users, without a structured delegation system. This enables group members to receive calls and initiate calls on behalf of others, enabling a simple and collaborative communication experience.
Microsoft Teams is updating macOS keyboard shortcuts to align with macOS HIG policy, with rollouts starting late October 2024 and completing by mid-December 2024. The update will remove “Options” and “Control” shortcuts to avoid conflicts with macOS shortcuts. Details will be available in Teams and on Microsoft Support. No admin action is required.
Microsoft Places, an AI-powered app for flexible work, will be available in Q4 CY24 with core and premium service plans. Existing Office 365 subscribers will receive the core service plan, including basic features for workplace coordination. Teams Premium users will get enhanced features. Deployment begins in November across all platforms.
The CNS Service API support for Teams Phone devices has been extended to January 15, 2025. The extension is temporary, and users must plan upgrades to avoid long-term service interruptions. Impacted models and required actions for updates are specified.
Previously in a town hall, only presenters and organizers could chat with each other. With this new update, attendees, presenters and organizers can now chat together during a town hall using the new Event Chat feature. Presenters and organizers can still chat privately during the town hall as well.
Allows moderators to answer questions from specific attendees without displaying the reply to the other participants. This capability can be helpful for sensitive questions, personal inquiries, or follow-up discussions that are not intended to be broadcast to the entire audience.
The “WatermarkWithDisplayNameAndIP” value for Teams meeting policy will retire on October 27, 2024. Organizations using it should note that only “WatermarkWithDisplayName” and “JoinWithAudioOnly” will be supported thereafter. No action is required, but admins should update documentation and inform their teams.
