Bringing mentions filter upfront and retirement of other filters in Activity Feed

The ‘@Mention’ and ‘Unread’ filters will be made more accessible in the Activity Feed, while other filters will be retired. Users should use the upfront filter pills or type search instead. The rollout for Targeted Release begins early May 2024, with General Availability starting late May 2024.

Microsoft Teams: Attach files from Microsoft SharePoint sites in the mobile app

The Teams mobile app will soon allow users to browse, select, and attach files from SharePoint Sites to chats or channel conversations. This feature is part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 395375 and will roll out in early to late June 2024 without requiring admin configuration.

Microsoft Teams: Suppressing notifications from muted chats

Microsoft Teams is updating to suppress notifications for @Everyone mentions and reactions in muted chats, while still notifying for personal mentions. This change will roll out from early June to late July 2024, depending on the service availability, and requires no admin action.

Microsoft Teams: Shared tab in chat

The Files tab in chat is now ‘Shared’. The shared tab shows all the files and links that were sent in the chat, making it easier to find them- all in one place. Channels are not affected by this change.

Retirement of the Microsoft Graph meeting registration beta APIs

The Microsoft Graph meeting registration beta APIs will be retired, and data will stop returning on September 30th, 2024. Organizations using these APIs must update to the new Microsoft Graph webinar APIs and webhooks by May 2024. New webinar APIs will be available in beta to assist with the transition.

Microsoft Teams: Shifts plugin in Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365

The Shifts plugin is now available in Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 within Teams, allowing users to inquire about team shifts and time off. Rollout starts early June 2024, completing by late June. To prepare, admins must deploy the plugin and users need to authenticate it.

Microsoft Teams: Auto-create Microsoft Loop workspaces to share meeting content

Microsoft Teams will soon prompt meeting organizers of recurring meetings to create a Microsoft Loop workspace for sharing and collaborating on meeting content. This feature will start rolling out in mid-May 2024 and will initially support meetings with 3-50 invitees. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Microsoft Teams devices: Cancel device operations through the Teams admin center

Soon, Microsoft Teams device admins will be able to cancel device operations from the Teams admin center. This feature will be available for Teams Rooms on Android, Teams Phones, Displays, and Panels, providing greater control over devices. Rollout will occur from late June to mid-September 2024.
