Microsoft Teams: Survivable Branch Appliance support for call controls, auto attendants, and call queues

We continue to expand our Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) capabilities. We are adding support for call transfer, forwarding, and the ability to manage call routing settings for calls to a call queue or auto attendant, in the event of an outage. If incoming calls to a call queue or auto attendant are received during an outage, organizations will have the option to choose to redirect these calls to an alternate call queue or auto attendant or to reach a specific user within the site, ensuring that important calls are not missed.

Microsoft Teams: Explicit consent for transcription in Teams meetings

The meeting policy that requires explicit consent to be recorded is expanding to include transcription. When the policy is applied, a notification will pop-up when the recording or transcription is initiated requesting consent of all participants to be transcribed and recorded. Before a user gives consent, the user cannot unmute, turn on camera or share content in the meeting.

Microsoft Teams: Meeting Chat shown by default in Gallery View with Teams Room

Microsoft Teams will show Meeting Chat by default in Gallery View with Teams Room. This will enable users to see incoming chat messages on the front-of-room display during a meeting. The default chat experience can be configured via Teams Admin Center or XML setting. No action is needed to prepare for this change.

Microsoft Teams | Track usage of your frontline teams and apps in the Teams Admin Center

Admins can track usage of frontline teams and apps in the Teams Admin Center with a usage dashboard. A table with usage data for each frontline location on Microsoft Teams, Walkie Talkie, Shifts, and Tasks can be filtered by location and date range. Admins can export this data to a CSV file. Rollout begins in April 2024 and ends in May 2024. Admins should map frontline attributes and deploy frontline dynamic teams in the Teams Admin Center. Learn more about Frontline Usage Reporting.

Microsoft Teams: Teams meeting recordings will be saved to meeting organizer’s OneDrive for Business

With this change Teams meeting recordings will be saved to the meeting organizer’s OneDrive for Business instead of to the OneDrive for Business folder of the person who initiated the recording. This improves the compliance of recordings as meeting organizers can then manage access permissions and recording file management.

Microsoft Teams: Live Share support for Chat, Channel, and Collaborative Stageview tab applications

Microsoft Teams applications that use Live Share for building real-time collaborative experiences – previously limited to Meeting Stage and Side Panel tabs – will be able to extend to Chat, Channel, and Collaborative Stageview tabs on desktop and web. Live Share enables collaborative features such as co-watching, co-creating, and co-editing content in real time. All applications enabled in your tenant using the existing Live Share permission will be eligible for this feature.

Microsoft Teams: Access Workflows from the three-dot menu on shared file

Microsoft Teams will soon bring Workflows powered by Microsoft Power Automate to the three-dot menu for files shared in Teams chat or channels. Users will be able to select the three-dot menu on files shared in Teams chat or channels, and then choose Workflows to configure and run workflows for files. The feature will only be available in the New Teams client on the desktop and on the web. No action is needed from users to prepare for this rollout.

Teams Mobile: New citations for Copilot in Teams responses in meetings and calls

Copilot responses in Microsoft Teams Mobile meetings and calls will include a citation number for easy access to the content source. The rollout will begin mid-April 2024 and no admin action is required. Improved user experience and productivity is expected.

Microsoft Teams is introducing a new feature that allows admins to pre-pin and pre-install meeting apps for users. This update extends the functionality to meeting apps, streamlining the user’s experience, especially during meetings. Admins can choose the meeting apps to pre-pin and pre-install, and no specific actions are required to prepare for this feature update. The rollout will begin in early April 2024 and is expected to complete by mid-April 2024 worldwide.
