Microsoft 365 admin center: New Microsoft Outlook for Windows usage report for Microsoft 365 apps

A new “Outlook for Windows migration progress” report will be available in the Microsoft 365 admin center starting early March 2025. This report will track the adoption of the new Outlook for Windows, requiring no admin action before rollout. Review configurations and notify users about the change.

Microsoft Purview | Information Protection: On-demand classification of files in SharePoint and OneDrive for business

Microsoft Purview is introducing on-demand classification of files in SharePoint and OneDrive, allowing discovery and classification of sensitive historical data. This pay-as-you-go feature will roll out in public preview from late March to early April 2025 and be generally available by late June 2025. Admins can configure this feature, which will automatically apply relevant policies. No immediate action is required from admins before the rollout.

Microsoft Purview | Endpoint Data Loss Prevention: New Allow and Off modes for each activity

Microsoft Purview Endpoint DLP is adding two new modes, “Off” and “Allow,” to the existing “Audit only,” “Block,” and “Block with override” options. The rollout will occur in March 2025. These modes will be available by default, and prerequisites include specific Defender Antimalware client versions. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Microsoft Entra: New built-in Viva Glint Tenant Administrator role

Microsoft is introducing the Viva Glint Tenant Administrator role in Microsoft Entra, allowing admins to manage Viva Glint settings without needing Global or User Admin privileges. The rollout will occur from late March to early April 2025. Admins should review the role’s documentation, assess current roles, and communicate changes to staff.

Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management: Increasing policy template limits

Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management will increase policy creation limits from 20 policies per template to a maximum of 100 overall active policies. The rollout will start in mid-March 2025 for Public Preview and early July 2025 for General Availability. No admin action is required.

Microsoft OneNote Copilot Chat is coming to Microsoft OneNote for the web and Microsoft OneNote in Teams

Microsoft OneNote Copilot Chat will be available in OneNote for the web and OneNote in Teams starting February 2025, completing by late March 2025. It requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and will be enabled by default. No action is needed, but you may notify users and update documentation.
