New user Connection Settings for headset microphones in the Walkie Talkie app on Microsoft Teams for Android will optimize battery life for older Bluetooth headsets by allowing them to disconnect after inactivity. Microsoft Teams admin center will now display security and compliance information for apps directly on their detail pages. Admins can view data security assessments, vulnerability scans, and certification statuses. This feature will roll out from late February to mid-March 2025, requiring no action from admins.
Microsoft Defender for Office 365 will soon allow creating allow entries for domains, addresses, and URLs directly from the Tenant Allow/Block Lists page. This feature will roll out in mid-March 2025 and will not impact current entries. No admin action is required for this update.
New Outlook for Windows and Web will soon feature Newsletters, allowing users to create, distribute, and track internal email newsletters. Public Preview starts mid-February 2025, with General Availability in August 2025. Access is controlled by OwaMailboxPolicy, and configuration is required to enable the feature.
Microsoft Teams will soon support wired headsets for the Walkie Talkie app on iOS, allowing hands-free and push-to-talk operations. The rollout begins in early March 2025 and will be completed by mid-March 2025. No admin action is required, but user notification and documentation updates are recommended.
Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management will soon allow analysts to identify compromised user alerts in Microsoft Entra, aiding in appropriate response actions. This feature will roll out globally in March 2025. Admins need to review configurations and notify users, but no immediate action is required.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat in Edge Mobile for Android and iOS will re-enable page summarization features in two phases from mid-February to late March 2025. The Copilot Chat icon will be displayed by default to all Microsoft Entra ID users. No admin action is required before the rollout.
Microsoft Viva Learning will introduce a spell check feature for search queries, correcting errors automatically. Users can override corrections if needed. Available in all supported languages, this feature requires enabling optional connected experiences. Rollout begins late January 2025 and completes by late February 2025. Admin and user documentation is provided.
Before this rollout, users can apply a sensitivity label to a non-Office file or a PDF file in Microsoft Windows to apply protection that encapsulates the file into a .pfile file type that can verify user authorization and rights on the file. A user who needs to modify and collaborate with others on a .pfile can use Microsoft Purview Information protection (MPIP) to remove the label and protection on the .pfile, make changes, and then reapply the label and protection to the updated file.
After this rollout, Microsoft Purview Endpoint Data Loss Prevention (EDLP) will be able to simplify and protect the collaboration experience in managed Windows devices in conjunction with the MPIP client. Non-Office files and PDF files stored on managed devices will be labeled while retaining their original file types to allow a user to modify and update the file on their device. When a user copies and uploads a labeled file to a destination external to their Windows device, EDLP will help enforce the rights protection by converting the file to a .pfile for secure sharing to other users. If the other users are also protected with EDLP, they can use MPIP to remove the label on the shared files before collaborating.
We are excited to announce that we will add the Microsoft 365 Copilot in Viva Glint feature to Feature Access Management in Viva. This will allow global admins and AI admins to control the rollout and availability of Copilot in Viva Glint.
Copilot in Viva Glint is enabled for all users in Viva Feature Access Management by default. If users have access at the Feature Access Management in Viva level, you will also need to grant access in the Viva Glint product as it is disabled for all users by default in Viva Glint.
