Microsoft Teams: Post and reply as “Organizer” in Q&A

Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: Organizers for town halls, webinars, and meetings will be able to post and reply to questions using the title “Organizer” in the Q&A experience, instead of their names. This feature allows organizers to present a unified and official voice when responding to attendee questions.

Microsoft Teams: New keyboard shortcut for adding emojis

Coming soon: We are excited to announce a new feature in Microsoft Teams that allows users to insert emojis in the compose box by typing a word surrounded by colons. For example, 🙂 will turn into the smiling face emoji. Users can soon add any emoji, including custom ones, for faster and easier personal expression.

This feature applies to Teams for Windows desktop and Windows for Mac desktop.

Microsoft Purview | Data Loss Prevention: New role for downloading original file evidence for Endpoint

Coming soon to Microsoft Purview | Data Loss Prevention (DLP): A new RBAC (role-based access control) role called Data Classification Content Download. When evidence collection is turned on from Endpoint DLP settings, this role lets admins download endpoint-related evidence files from activity explorer and DLP alerts in the Purview portal and Microsoft Defender XDR portal.

Microsoft Teams: Microsoft Copilot in meetings will suggest follow-up questions

Coming soon to Microsoft Teams: When Microsoft Copilot in Teams meetings responds to a prompt, Copilot will also suggest follow-up questions to keep the conversation going. The follow-up questions will typically be based on Copilot’s prior responses, such as asking for more details or asking what a specific person said about the topic in the meeting. This message applies to Teams for Windows desktop and Teams for Mac desktop. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required to use this feature.

Microsoft Teams: Queues app to add Monitor, Whisper, Barge, and Takeover

For Microsoft Teams, in the Queues app, authorized users will be able to enter into a monitoring session for private coaching. They can listen to customer calls, whisper to the agents for private messages, and barge into or takeover the call.

Microsoft Purview | Data Lifecycle Management: Retention based on “last accessed” for OneDrive and SharePoint files

Coming soon for Microsoft Purview | Data Lifecycle Management: Admins will be able to apply a retention policy or retention label in Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft SharePoint for files that have not been accessed by anyone in your organization for a specified period of time. This message applies to retention for Microsoft 365 file types. We will support other file types (non-Microsoft 365) in a future rollout.

Power Automate – Updated admin tenant setting for resubmitting Power Automate flow runs

On February 6, 2025, we will update the Power Automate flow run resubmission setting. This will allow administrators to let users resubmit instant-triggered flows. The feature will be fully available by February 28, 2025.

Microsoft Teams: Microsoft Copilot can analyze content shared onscreen in a meeting

Coming soon to Microsoft Teams: When in a meeting that is being recorded and has content shared onscreen, Microsoft Copilot will be able to answer questions based on the shared onscreen content. Before this rollout, Copilot was only able to answer questions based on the transcript and meeting chat, and this capability will continue after the rollout. This message applies to Teams on VDI, Teams on Windows desktop, Teams on Mac desktop, Teams on the web, and Teams for iOS/Android. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required to use this feature.

Microsoft Teams: Share files faster in Chat and channels

Coming soon for Microsoft Teams: Users will be able to share a file from a Chat conversation, a Chat Shared tab, or a channel post to 1:1 chats, group chats, or channels with fewer clicks. When files are shared, their permissions are maintained, ensuring that recipients have the appropriate access rights. Users can include a message with the shared file and @mention recipients.
