The April 2024 security update is now available

The April 2024 security update is now available for Windows 11 and all supported versions of Windows 10. We recommend that you install these updates promptly. For more information about the contents of this update, see the release notes, which are easily accessible from the Windows 11 and Windows 10 update history pages. Note that the April 2024 security update includes the resolution for an issue that affects Windows Server domain controllers (DCs). This resolution was first introduced as part of Out-of-Band updates released on March 22 and 25, 2024.

Highlights for the Windows 11, versions 23H2 and 22H2 update:
  • You can now use all voice access features on multiple displays. These include number and grid overlays that, in the past, you could only use on the primary display.
  • This update improves Narrator’s detection of text in images, which includes handwriting.
  • This update affects how Nearby Share turns on and off. You can use quick settings or the Settings app to turn on Nearby Share.
  • You can now give your device a more friendly name to identify it when sharing. Go to Settings > System > Nearby sharing. There, you can rename your device.
  • This update adds suggestions to Snap Layouts. They help you to instantly snap multiple app windows together.
