Microsoft Edge: Ask Copilot from the address bar

When users type a search query in the Edge address bar, they will have the option to send their search query directly to Copilot for a synthesized, more targeted answer pulling from across the web (and their work content, for premium users).

Microsoft Viva: Allow/disable reactions in Engage events

Organizers can now disable reactions in Engage events. When this setting is turned off, attendees won’t see or be able to use reactions on questions, discussions or comments. Organizers can manage this option under additional settings in the event creation/edit page.

Out-of-band updates released for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2

Out-of-band (OOB) updates have been released today, May 13, 2025, for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2. These versions have reached end of support, but security-only updates are available for customers under the Premium Assurance program. These OOB updates add protections to address CVE-2025-32709.

Microsoft Outlook: Summarize email attachments with Copilot

Soon, users will be able to summarize PDF, Word, and PowerPoint email attachments with Copilot in Outlook across various platforms. This feature requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot license and will roll out from mid-May to late August 2025. Encrypted and MIP-protected files are not supported. No admin action is needed before rollout.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: Access agents from the Microsoft Edge sidebar

Users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will soon be able to access previously added agents from the Microsoft Edge sidebar starting late May 2025. This feature will be available by default, and no admin action is required. Users cannot create or add new agents from the sidebar.

Introducing Meeting Audio Overview, an AI feature for Teams that captures and summarizes key topics from meeting transcriptions into audio summaries. It supports Windows, macOS, web, iOS, and Android. Rollout starts in June 2025, requiring a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. No administrative policy is needed.

Microsoft Power BI: Tenant setting changes for Microsoft Azure Maps in Power BI

Admins will have updated tenant settings for Azure Maps in Power BI, split into three controls. The update requires Power BI Desktop April 2025 version or later. Rollout begins mid-June 2025. Notify admins and users, review configurations, and use endpoint management to check Power BI Desktop versions.

Microsoft Defender for Identity: We will disable collection of local administrators’ group members (using SAM-R)

Microsoft Defender for Identity will disable the remote collection of local administrators’ group members using SAM-R queries starting early May 2025. This change will impact the ability to map potential lateral movement paths. No admin action is required unless NTLM is disabled and you need the feature reenabled.
