Outlook: New work location sharing options

This updates the work location sharing options to include the option of not sharing any location information to other users in the organization. The three supported location sharing options will now be “No location shared,” “Only general location shared (Office or Remote),” and “Detailed location shared (Building or desk location information).” The location sharing option will be respected when showing a user’s location information coming from Work Hours and Location across Outlook, Places, and Teams experiences. #newoutlookforwindows

Microsoft Teams: UDP Signaling Ports configuration change

Microsoft Teams is updating UDP signaling ports for Calling and Meetings to enhance efficiency. The source ports will change from 49152-65535 to 50070-50089, with the destination UDP port remaining at 3478. Rollout begins early October 2024. Admins should allow the new UDP source ports to the specified destination ports.

Planned maintenance for all certified and supported Teams Android Devices to Company Portal version

Automatic updates for Teams Android Devices to Company Portal version 5.0.6152.0 are planned, starting mid-October 2024 until late December 2024. Devices running older versions may be unstable after July 1, 2025. Organizations should ensure devices are updated and check Teams Admin Center for current firmware and application versions. Accelerated updates will occur outside business hours, overriding normal update timelines and maintenance windows. Devices no longer supported will not receive updates. Preparation may include manual updates or allowing automatic updates to proceed.

Specifying client ID and secret when creating an Azure ACS principal via AppRegNew.aspx will be removed

The option to specify client ID and secret when creating Azure ACS principals will be removed. Users must adopt the system-generated client ID and secret. This change will start in early October 2024 and end by early November 2024. No admin action is required for this automatic change. Azure ACS is retiring on April 2, 2026.

Planned Maintenance: Teams Q and A

EU-based organizations with Teams Q&A data in the US will have their data moved to EU datacenters starting late October 2024. During the migration, the Q&A feature will be read-only for about 4 hours, and users will be unable to create new Q&A-enabled meetings. Notifications will be sent to inform of the specific migration date and time.

Introducing Guest App Permission Management for SharePoint Admins

SharePoint Admins can soon manage guest app permissions using SharePoint Online Management Shell cmdlets. Updates to Get-SPOApplication and Set-SPOApplicationPermission will facilitate this. Rollout starts early October 2024 for Targeted Release, and mid-October 2024 for General Availability. Admins must download the latest SharePoint PowerShell version to prepare.
