Microsoft 365 Copilot app: Sway will retire from the “Create” tab

Sway will be retired from the “Create” tab in the Microsoft 365 Copilot app between March 24 and March 31, 2025, due to low usage. Users can still access Sway from the “Apps” section. No admin action is required, but notifying users and updating documentation is recommended.

Microsoft Teams: Customize the location of notifications in Teams for the web

Microsoft Teams for the web will soon allow users to customize the placement of notifications on their screens, choosing from four options: bottom right, top right, bottom left, or top left. This feature will roll out in April 2025 and will be configurable in Teams settings. No admin action is required.

Microsoft 365 admin center: New Microsoft Outlook for Windows usage report for Microsoft 365 apps

A new “Outlook for Windows migration progress” report will be available in the Microsoft 365 admin center starting early March 2025. This report will track the adoption of the new Outlook for Windows, requiring no admin action before rollout. Review configurations and notify users about the change.

Microsoft Purview | Information Protection: On-demand classification of files in SharePoint and OneDrive for business

Microsoft Purview is introducing on-demand classification of files in SharePoint and OneDrive, allowing discovery and classification of sensitive historical data. This pay-as-you-go feature will roll out in public preview from late March to early April 2025 and be generally available by late June 2025. Admins can configure this feature, which will automatically apply relevant policies. No immediate action is required from admins before the rollout.

Upcoming Changes for M365 Copilot Chat with Link Safety

Upcoming changes to M365 Copilot Chat include integration with SafeLinks for URL protection, native time-of-click URL reputation checks, and the cessation of hyperlink redaction. Rollout begins in late March 2025 and completes by late May 2025. These updates enhance link security in chat responses.

This feature allows users to automatically open the message above the current one in the message list after performing actions like moving or deleting the current message. Users can turn this behavior on in the “Email Auto-advance” Mail setting.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Policy sync status on Purview portal

The Policy Sync Status feature enables solution admins to know the policy sync status directly from the Policy page in Purview portal. When a policy is created or updated by a user, the changes are distributed to the locations selected. This new feature will give users insight into whether the policy changes have reached the target locations. This policy sync status feature is available for DLP (excluding endpoint policies), Information Protection, Data Loss Management, Records Management, Information Barriers, and Priva.

Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Endpoint Data Loss Prevention – Add hyperlink support in warn and block toast messages

With this feature, data officers can now embed hyperlinks within toast messages for specific rules. When this rule is triggered, the end user will see a toast with a customized title and message with a hyperlink. This feature is useful when organizations need to direct users to a specific resource or a repository for more specific instruction (e.g. internal policy SharePoint site).
