The Microsoft Edge sidebar will be off by default for non-active and new users, but can be re-enabled in settings. Active users will see no change. Administrators can use the HubsSidebarEnabled policy to manage this. The update rolls out in late September to early October 2024.

Moving file and conversation settings to the Viva Engage admin center

Microsoft Viva is transferring file and conversation settings from the Yammer admin center to the Viva Engage admin center. Rollout starts late October 2024, with completion by mid-November 2024, enhancing performance without disrupting current functions. Admins will manage file upload permissions, GIFs, URL metadata, message translation, and private messages. No action is needed before the rollout.

Microsoft Teams: Microsoft Mesh app on PC supports guest access for events

Microsoft Teams: Increase in meeting passcodes length for added security

Microsoft Teams is increasing meeting passcodes from 6 to 8 characters for enhanced security, starting late October 2024. This change won’t affect internal usage, only external users joining with a Meeting ID and passcode will need to use longer passcodes. No admin action required.
