Starting September 30, 2024, classic Viva Engage will retire inline PDF viewing in external networks and non-connected communities, requiring users to download PDFs to view them. User interface changes include a generic preview with a download prompt. No action is needed, but upgrading to Native Mode is advised.

Sensitive meetings to be excluded from Viva Insights metrics

Viva Insights will exclude meetings marked as ‘Private’ or ‘Confidential’ from metrics, starting mid-September 2024, with full rollout by mid-October 2024. No action is required from organizations, but updating training and documentation may be considered.

Microsoft Teams: Streamlined process for installing Teams apps

Microsoft Teams is introducing a simplified app installation process to enhance user experience, with fewer steps involved. Rollouts will begin in early September 2024 for Targeted Release, mid-September for General Availability worldwide, and late October for GCC. The update is automatic and does not alter existing app management practices.

SharePoint: Introducing custom fonts

Microsoft SharePoint introduces custom fonts through the SharePoint Brand center, allowing organizations to express their brand creatively on sites and pages. This feature is part of Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 375490 and includes new web parts supporting custom fonts. Rollout phases include Public Preview, Targeted Release, and General Availability, spanning from April to October 2024. Brand managers can upload and manage fonts in the Brand center, creating custom font packages for SharePoint and Viva Connections Desktop experiences. Default Microsoft font packages are provided, and the feature is available by default with no admin action required.

Microsoft Outlook: Review and update work hours and location in the My Day pane

Outlook’s My Day pane will soon allow users to view and update their work hours and location. This feature will be available on new Outlook for Windows and the web, starting with Targeted Release in September 2024 and General Availability in October 2024. It will be enabled by default.

Microsoft Graph API will include usage metrics for Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365

The Microsoft Graph API will soon include Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 usage metrics, enabling customized reporting and analytics. This feature requires a Copilot license and will be globally available from early to mid-September 2024. No admin action is needed before the rollout.
