Teams copy/paste of messages does not include timestamp and message author name

Teams has removed timestamps and author names from copied messages to reduce clutter. Users who need detailed message transfer should use the Forward feature or Teams Export API. This change is already in effect, and organizations may need to update training materials accordingly.

Product transitions to the cloud.microsoft domain – August 2024

Microsoft products Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are now available on the cloud.microsoft domain, which will soon redirect from previous domains. No user action is needed as links are backwards compatible. Organizations should update references and ensure *.cloud.microsoft is unblocked to prepare for this transition.

Microsoft Teams: Real-time notifications (Live Activities) for Teams meetings on iOS lock screen

iOS Live Activities integration for Teams meetings on mobile allows users to view the live progress of a meeting at-a-glance from their lock screen. Real-time notifications with Live Activities automatically update in real-time so users can see when the meeting has started, when it’s in progress, whether recording is on, when someone needs to be admitted from the lobby, and when the meeting has ended. Live Activities is for iPhones only (iOS16.1).

Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365: Updated Readiness section of the Usage report showing suggested candidates

The Microsoft 365 Usage report is being updated to include a new ‘Suggested candidate for Copilot’ column to aid admins in licensing decisions. This feature, part of the Copilot for Microsoft 365 Readiness section, will identify users likely to benefit from Copilot based on their app usage. Rollout begins early September 2024.

Microsoft Viva: Viva Learning – Multilayer structuring, customization, and branding for learning academies

This feature set brings new functionality to learning academies. Multi-layer structuring allows users to organize content and learning paths under multiple levels. Branding capabilities include the customization of the academy logo and the background image. Customization allows users to hide or show individual components of an academy like featured sets and learner profile cards.

SharePoint: Introducing archival and other enforcement actions with inactive site lifecycle management policy

Address inactive content on your tenant with inactive sites policy. Admins can configure policies to Detect inactive sites, send notifications to all site owners, and archive these sites or put them in a read-only state if there is no action from notification recipients.

Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance: Enrich triage with Insider Risk Management context

The new Microsoft Purview compliance portal feature integrates Insider Risk Management (IRM) with Communication Compliance (CC), enhancing compliance investigations by providing a comprehensive view of a user’s risk profile and activity history. Public Preview begins late August 2024, with General Availability starting mid-September 2024. Organizations must enable Data sharing in IRM settings to prepare for this update. This feature is detailed in Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 408534.

Microsoft Teams: New security and certification information available for apps and extensions

This feature will equip administrators evaluating apps and copilot extensions for deployment with extensive security and related certification data to help those admins more quickly evaluate that an app and/or extension complies with their tenant security requirements. Initially, the information provided will include results from individual M365 certification tests and evidence submitted by ISVs during Microsoft’s audit of their app or copilot extension. Additionally, for non-certified apps, admins will receive details on data handling, security, and
compliance as self-attested by the ISV.

Microsoft OneDrive for Business: Colored folders in the OneDrive folder in Microsoft Windows File Explorer

Colored folders introduced on OneDrive web mid-2023 will be available in Windows File Explorer for OneDrive folders starting mid-September 2024. Users can view and manage folder colors directly in File Explorer. The feature will be on by default with no admin action required.
