Yammer Enterprise rebrand on Service health and Message center

As part of the Yammer to Viva Engage transition announced in May 2023, we are updating the Service Health Dashboard (SHD) and Message center to align with the new taxonomy. At the end of September, the service titled “Yammer Enterprise” will be consolidated under the node “Microsoft Viva”, and subsequent messages will be titled “Microsoft Viva Engage” if the service is impacted.

Avatars: Hardware Requirements and Service Plan Update

You will soon see a new service plan associated with your Microsoft 365 or Office 365 license: Avatars for Teams (MESH_AVATARS_FOR_TEAMS). 

Avatars for Teams app is also updating the minimum hardware requirements to access this feature. The new minimum specified hardware requirement is a two core CPU with 6gb RAM. Users will not be able to utilize this feature if it does not meet the minimum hardware spec. This change is due to be able to provide users with a better Avatars for Teams experience.

Bing Chat Enterprise available/default on in the Microsoft Edge mobile app in late August 2023 (iOS & Android)

Bing Chat Enterprise will be available in Preview on mobile devices during the last week of August through an update to Microsoft Edge version 116 (iOS and Android). It will be turned on by default unless your organization has previously opted out of Bing Chat Enterprise.

Microsoft Edge for Business is available in Edge version 116

Microsoft Edge for Business, the new, dedicated work experience, is now available in Microsoft Edge stable version 116. All users who sign in to Edge using Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) will automatically be transitioned to Microsoft Edge for Business as part of the release.

Self-serve Device Reregistration in Windows Autopatch

To provide IT admins the ability to self-serve device reregistration without the requirement of opening a service request with the Windows Autopatch support team, Windows Autopatch has made generally available on July 31, 2023, the restore device feature within its end-user experience in the Microsoft Intune admin portal.

Coming soon to general availability is Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) capability that will help enhance your investigation experience by providing granular visibility into your device’s health with respect to the configuration status and policy-sync status for each onboarded device. This feature will allow you to see when policy updates have reached your devices at any stage during your interaction with Microsoft Purview DLP. You will also be able to access detailed information for every device as well as remediation support to self-diagnose and troubleshoot misconfigured settings.

Plan for Change: Intune moving to support macOS 12 and higher later this year

As mentioned in MC579608, later this year, we expect macOS 14 Sonoma to be released by Apple. Microsoft Intune, the Company Portal app and the Intune MDM agent will be moving to support macOS 12 (Monterey) and later. Since the Company Portal app for iOS and macOS are a unified app, this change will occur shortly after the release of iOS/iPadOS 17. This does not affect existing, enrolled devices.
