Firstline worker and Firstline manager policy packages to be retired

We will be retiring the features Firstline worker and Firstline manager policy packages. Instead we recommend the utilization of Frontline worker or Frontline Manager policy packages, which is where we will continue to invest.

As part of our rebranding efforts we will be retiring the Firstline worker and Firstline manager policy packages and introduce the Frontline worker and Frontline manager policy packages. The policy settings will remain the same in the new packages.

Key Points:

  • Timing: March 15, 2021
  • Action: review usage of Firstline worker and Firstline manager policy packages

How this will affect your organization:

Administrators will no longer be able to see the Firstline worker and Firstline manager policy packages in the Teams Admin Center and the Get-CsPolicyPackage list when this change is implemented. If any of your users have a Firstline worker or Firstline manager policy packages assigned, they will continue to remain assigned with no impact to these users. You can still manage the Firstline worker and Firstline manager policy packages in the Teams Admin Center on the user profile page and by directly calling the Firstline package names in PowerShell.

What you need to do to prepare:

Instead of using Firstline worker and Firstline manager policy packages, we recommend using the Frontline worker and Frontline manager policy packages. The new policy packages have the same policy settings as the legacy packages.
