Microsoft Purview | Communication Compliance: Multiple public preview features rolling out to general availability

New features, currently in public preview, are coming soon to general availability for the Communication Compliance solution in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 88872, 93195

When this will happen:

Rollout will begin in mid-October and is expected to be complete by mid-November.

How this will affect your organization:

The following features are currently available in public preview and will soon be generally available:

Detect customer complaints. Available as an option in the Communication Compliance policy setup, this new classifier helps detect messages that might indicate customers are submitting complaints about an organization’s products or services. This classifier can help customers manage regulatory compliance obligations such as FINRA Rule 4530, FINRA 4513, FINRA 2111, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Code of Federal Regulations Title 21 – Food and Drugs, Federal Trade Commission Act.

Recommended policy actions. Recommended policy actions help organizations discover data risk trends they might not be aware of, like the sharing of sensitive information. Insights for both sensitive information types and trainable classifiers are designed to help organizations identify potential areas of risk and determine the type and scope of policies to be configured. Recommended policy actions displays the aggregate number of matches per classification type, with none of the insights containing any personally identifiable information.

What you need to do to prepare:

Microsoft Purview Communication Compliance provides the tools to help organizations detect regulatory compliance violations (e.g. SEC or FINRA obligations), such as inappropriate sharing of sensitive or confidential information, harassing or threatening language, and sharing of adult content. Built with privacy by design, usernames are pseudonymized by default, role-based access controls are built in, investigators are opted in by an admin, and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.
