Microsoft Syntex Image Tagger

Syntex Image Tagger uses AI to automatically tag images that reside on SharePoint libraries with descriptive keywords. These keywords are stored in a managed metadata column on the item, making the images easier to search, sort, filter, and manage.

Syntex Image Tagger is available on a pay-as-you-go basis and is not included in the Syntex seat license. Learn More

When this will happen:

• Targeted Release (entire org): Rollout is expected to start in late May and complete by early June.

• Standard Release: Rollout is expected to start in early June and complete by late June.

How this will affect your organization:

To activate Image Tagger, admins must first set up Syntex Billing by going to Set Up -> Files and Content-> Set up Syntex in the Microsoft Admin center. After billing is set up, admins can enable Image Tagger in all SharePoint libraries in the tenant or for no libraries. Image Tagger is not available in OneDrive for Business at this time.

Option 1:

Option 2:

Once the admin allows, Image Tagger will not start working until end users go to relevant SharePoint libraries and enable Image tagging. Ways to enable image tagging at a library level:

If the Image Tags column already exists in your library as part of the basic 37 tags, you can simply enable enhanced Image Tagging by turning on the toggle in the Edit Column settings for the Image Tags column.

Alternatively, you can go to Automate Menu and Enable Image Tags column from the library. Whenever you enable Image Tags, by default the Syntex Enhanced Image Tags will be turned on. Once turned on, all Images uploaded in the library will be tagged with a rich set of descriptive tags and will be available in the Image Tags column that will get added to the library view.

What you need to do to prepare:

You may want to add any internal documentation & user training related to the Image Tags feature.
