Open Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Files in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat

Starting early February 2026, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files cited in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat (web) will open directly within the chat instead of a new tab. This change requires a Copilot license, is enabled by default, needs no admin action, and does not affect other Copilot apps.

Drawn electronic signatures with eSignature for Microsoft 365

eSignature for Microsoft 365 will add a drawn signature option for signing PDFs, allowing use of stylus, touch, or mouse. Rolling out worldwide from mid-March to mid-May 2026, enabled by default with no admin changes needed. Users can switch between drawn and typed signatures.

Viva Glint: Teams notifications now support user language preferences

Viva Glint notifications in Microsoft Teams will now appear in each user’s configured language instead of the tenant default, starting mid-February 2026. This change requires no admin action; users should ensure their Viva Glint dashboard language is set correctly for proper localization.

Copilot Studio product terms update for Bing query data

Microsoft Entra ID Governance: Azure subscription required to continue using guest governance features

Starting January 30, 2026, Microsoft Entra ID Governance requires tenants to link an Azure subscription to use guest governance features. Without this, creating or updating guest-scoped policies will be blocked. Existing policies run, but new actions need subscription-linked billing under the Monthly Active User model.

Microsoft Purview | eDiscovery: Tenant level process report

Microsoft Purview eDiscovery will introduce a tenant-level process report by late February 2026, providing administrators a centralized view of all eDiscovery processes across cases. Enabled by default, it requires no action but allows role-based access for monitoring and managing eDiscovery activities tenant-wide.
