Open PDFs within Copilot

Starting mid-February 2026, Microsoft 365 Copilot will open PDFs directly within its interface by default, enhancing user experience without requiring admin changes. This applies to all licensed Copilot users, with existing PDF policies remaining in effect. No action is needed, though notifying support teams is optional.

Microsoft Teams: AI workflows powered by Microsoft 365 Copilot

New AI workflow templates powered by Microsoft 365 Copilot will be added to the Workflows app in Microsoft Teams (Web and Mac) for licensed users. Rolling out late January to mid-February 2026, these templates automate tasks via scheduled prompts. Admins control availability; feature is off by default.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: Create and view Outlook rules

Outlook will enable Microsoft 365 Copilot to create and view Inbox rules using natural language, simplifying rule management without navigating settings. This feature, requiring a Copilot license, rolls out globally from late January to early March 2026, is on by default, and aligns with existing Outlook policies.

Microsoft Teams: View code blocks on mobile

Microsoft Teams mobile app will support improved viewing of code blocks with syntax highlighting, line numbers, and scrollable containers starting February 2026. This feature is enabled by default, requires no admin action, and allows users to view code blocks sent from desktop or web clients on iOS and Android devices.

SharePoint: Migrate the Maps web part to Azure Maps

The SharePoint Maps web part will migrate from Bing Maps to Azure Maps starting March 2026, completing by mid-April. Key changes include renaming, removal of business entity search, limited autosuggestions for some Asian languages, and removal of bird’s eye and street view. Admins should update allowlists and network settings.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: Pay-as-you-go consumption for the Copilot Retrieval API

Microsoft 365 Copilot introduces pay-as-you-go (PAYG) for the Retrieval API, allowing non-Copilot licensed users tenant-level access to SharePoint and connectors under admin control. Rolling out from January to March 2026, it requires at least one Copilot license and explicit admin enablement. User-level data remains restricted.
