Microsoft Copilot in Teams will use the meeting chat as a data source

Microsoft Teams’ Copilot will soon use meeting chat as a data source to provide answers from chat and transcript data. It will be available for meetings 24 hours before and after, requiring a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license. Rollout begins mid-August 2024 for Targeted Release and late August for General Availability. No admin action is needed for the update.

Changes to Topics in Viva Engage

In February 2024, Viva Engage will simplify its topics model and retire integration with Viva Topics. Premium and management experiences will be removed, but users can still create, edit, and follow topics. Rollout begins August 2024, with all migrations completed by April 2025.

Configuration Change – Microsoft Edge Supported Hardware Requirements

The message informs that Microsoft Edge will change its hardware requirements, no longer supporting devices without SSE3 starting from version 128. This change will take effect by the end of August 2024, and affected users will need to upgrade their devices to continue receiving updates.

Microsoft Lists app: New drag and drop feature

The Microsoft Lists app will soon introduce a drag and drop feature to reorder list items, with rollout phases starting in August 2024. This feature will be on by default and requires no admin action prior to rollout. Users can also drag and drop multiple items.

Headspace will no longer be available through Viva Insights

Headspace content will be removed from Viva Insights on July 25th, 2024, affecting all entry points and experiences. Organizations should prepare by disabling Headspace via PowerShell, assessing the impact, and updating documentation. Breathing exercises will still be available in-app.

Microsoft Clipchamp is launching for Office 365 E3 and E5 commercial subscriptions

Clipchamp, a video editing tool, is launching for Office 365 E3 and E5 subscriptions. It will be accessible via its Windows app or on desktops through Edge or Chrome browsers. Users can edit videos in OneDrive or SharePoint, and it will appear activated in the Microsoft 365 Admin Console. General availability begins late August 2024. No other parts of Office 365 licenses will be affected.

Microsoft Teams: External USB Webcams are now supported in Teams meetings

Microsoft Teams now supports external USB webcams for meetings on Apple iPads with iPadOS 17. Rollout will begin late June 2024 and complete by early July 2024. No admin action is required for this update. Users should connect the external webcam before joining a meeting.

Microsoft Teams: Hide presenters, translators, moderators or staff from webinar event page

Microsoft Teams will soon allow webinar organizers to add individuals with presenter privileges without displaying them on the event page, supporting roles like translators and moderators. This feature will be available on Teams for Windows and the web, rolling out from early August to early September 2024.
