The July 2024 Windows security update is now available


Microsoft Defender for Identity will introduce new recommendations to Microsoft Secure Score, enhancing security posture accuracy. These recommendations include Azure SSO account configurations and actions for Microsoft Entra Connect accounts. Rollout starts mid-August 2024, completing by mid-September 2024, with no admin action required before the rollout.

We are announcing new functionality to trigger desktop flows in a picture-in-picture window via the Power Automate console or cloud flow.

On July 16, 2024, we published the 2024 release wave 2 plans for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform, which is a compilation of new capabilities that will be released between October 2024 through March 2025. The new features and enhancements provide you with significant capabilities to help transform your business using our applications.

Microsoft Teams will update the Gallery view to dynamically resize room video tiles based on participant count, optimizing visibility in Teams Rooms. This feature requires Cloud IntelliFrame or a camera with ASP capability. The rollout begins mid-August 2024, with automatic enablement but can be disabled by admins.

Microsoft Teams is introducing the ability for team owners to rename the General channel based on feedback. This feature will be rolled out from early August to late September 2024, depending on the release schedule. Organizations are advised to update their documentation accordingly. The feature is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 395931.

The new ‘Actions’ feature in Experience insights (preview) in the Microsoft 365 admin center will enable tracking and measuring the impact of user engagement actions. It will be accessible to certain admin roles and is set to roll out from late July to late September 2024. No action is required before the rollout.

OneDrive on the web will have new file type filters in July 2024, including OneNote, Microsoft Lists, Videos, Loop, Photos, Whiteboard, and PowerBI. No admin action is required for this update.

Teams Rooms on Windows will group in-room participants under the room node when joining via Proximity Join, with a rollout starting mid-August 2024. This feature requires specific Bluetooth and XML configuration settings enabled and will include UI updates for clarity. Details are associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 400702.

Microsoft Teams will integrate legal holds with Microsoft Purview directly, starting July 31, 2024, moving away from SharePoint integration. Legal holds on events before this date will continue through SharePoint, with full Purview eDiscovery support expected by early 2025. No admin action is required before the rollout.
