Outlook for the web users may need to sign in again due to third-party cookie blocks in Chrome and Edge, following a migration to MSAL. A banner will prompt users to refresh their session, affecting those without device SSO. Rollout begins late September 2024, with no admin action required before then.

The AI & Copilot Resources provider will power the OOB Microsoft Copilot Academy and will be visible by default to users who have Copilot licenses. Admins will be able to enable, disable, and apply permissions on the content of this provider.

Microsoft Word will soon feature automatic summary generation by Copilot when a document is opened, requiring a Copilot for Microsoft 365 license. This update, part of Roadmap ID 399921, will be globally available from late August to September 2024. The feature will be on by default.

A prebuilt model that uses OCR and AI to detect the primary language of the file, key-value pairs, tables, selection marks, and barcodes. As with other models, it can be configured to extract this information to specified library columns.

Microsoft Viva will integrate Glint and Pulse survey results into the Copilot Dashboard, enabling sentiment insights and direct survey initiation. This feature requires specific subscriptions and will roll out in September 2024. Admins should review current settings as existing controls will remain in effect.

Authors can now use Design Ideas in Microsoft Viva Amplify to rearrange and reformat their image section, text section, and banner webpart.

Microsoft Teams has introduced a new admin control to block external access with Teams trial-only tenants. This setting, which defaults to ‘Blocked’, aims to protect against malicious activities. Admins can review and update this setting using PowerShell commands. General availability of this feature started on August 15, 2024.
