This update will allow agents grounded in SharePoint library contents to use and reason over available metadata to better distinguish between similar documents and provide higher-quality answers.
We’re excited to announce two new Copilot skills in the SharePoint Admin Center:
1. Step-by-Step Task Guidance
Copilot can now walk you through the exact steps required to complete common admin tasks.
Example: “How can I find sites that are potentially over-permissioned?”
What to expect: Copilot will recommend clear, sequential instructions to guide you from start to finish.
2. Multi-Criteria Site Search
Copilot can help you find sites using multiple conditions at once.
Example: “Find sites that have been inactive for more than 60 days and are shared externally.”
What to expect: Copilot will generate a filtered list of sites that meet your criteria and suggest recommended actions.
In product monitoring logs to track all activities related to backup policy configuration & restore related tasks. This will help admins with troubleshooting, monitoring, reporting and auditing capabilities.
In new outlook for windows, users can now apply more than one category to their calendar events from the event right-click context menu. Selected categories will be indicated with a check mark within this menu. This specific update is for applying multiple categories to an event.
Users can ask for additional search results during a multi-turn conversation by saying things like “show me more.” Copilot continues from where it left off, pulling in remaining relevant results to maintain context and improve accuracy.
Starting October 2025, Outlook will automatically set up classic Outlook Exchange Online accounts and settings in the new Outlook for Windows in the background, if conditions are met. This feature is on by default, preserves existing settings, and can be managed or disabled by admins via policy.
Microsoft Purview Information Protection will support sharing sensitivity-labeled files across Microsoft 365 clouds (Worldwide, GCC, GCC High, 21Vianet). Public preview starts mid-August 2025; general availability by late October 2025. The feature is off by default and requires admin configuration with Entra ID group controls.
AI Workflows in the Microsoft Teams Workflows app use Microsoft 365 Copilot scheduled prompts to automate tasks via templates. Available to licensed users, admins must enable the app. Rolling out from late September to October 2025, the feature is off by default and enhances productivity through intelligent automation.
Microsoft Defender for Office 365 will enhance alert experience by consolidating related signals into richer alerts, reducing alert fatigue while preserving detection and workflows. Rollout starts mid-September 2025, requires no configuration changes, and may affect automation and alert metrics tracking. No compliance issues identified.
Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Premium) will allow sharing export download links with external users without tenant login, enhancing secure collaboration. Rollout begins mid-September 2025 worldwide and early October 2025 for GCC environments. Admins should review sharing policies and update guidance accordingly.
