Permanent Redirection of Office 365 Security

We are announcing that we will be completing the final step in the transition from the legacy Security & Compliance Center (SCC) portal to three new portals.  Due to the broad reception and adoption from you, our customers, to the new portals, we feel confident to complete the journey and make Microsoft 365 Defender portal, Microsoft Compliance center and the Modern Exchange Admin portal – the homes for Office 365 Security and Compliance management.

Office 365 Security

  • In June 2021, we announced the general availability of Microsoft Defender for Office 365 capabilities in the Microsoft 365 Defender portal (security.microsoft.com). Security teams can now manage all endpoint, email and collaboration, cross-product investigation, configuration, and remediation activities within a single unified XDR dashboard. Our efforts to bring these solutions together are part of our commitment to deliver world class SecOps capabilities that empower security teams to respond to threats more rapidly and effectively.
  • As previously messaged (MC276896 – August 2021), we announced and initiated the official transition of Microsoft Defender for Office 365’s home to be the Microsoft 365 Defender portal, with automatic redirection of all security features from Office 365 Security & compliance center (protection.office.com) to Microsoft 365 Defender (security.microsoft.com).

Office 365 Compliance

  • As previously messaged (MC244886 – March 2021), we announced and initiated the official transition of Office 365 Compliance capabilities to the Microsoft 365 Compliance center (compliance.microsoft.com), with automatic redirection of all compliance and information protection capabilities from Office 365 Security & compliance center (protection.office.com) to Microsoft 365 Compliance center (compliance.microsoft.com). In October 2021, we completed the transition with permanent redirection to the Microsoft 365 Compliance center.

Office 365 Mail flow

  • Mail flow features are moving to the Modern Exchange Admin Portal (Modern EAC, admin.exchange.microsoft.com) to align with the overall vision of the Microsoft 365 Experience. This will allow Exchange Administrators to have a consolidated and consistent experience giving the necessary insights and tools to help stay on top of your mail flow environment in one portal. We will continue to invest our resources into making this the best possible experience for our mail flow administrators.

When this will happen:

We will begin rolling out this change beginning in early March and completing by late March 2022.

How this will affect your organization:

Once this change is applied to your tenant –

  • Access to Microsoft Defender for Office 365 will be available only via the Microsoft 365 Defender portal (security.microsoft.com).
  • Access for Office 365 Compliance capabilities will be available only via the Microsoft 365 compliance center (compliance.microsoft.com)
  • Access to Mail flow capabilities will be available only via the Modern Exchange Admin Portal (admin.exchange.microsoft.com)

All existing capabilities are already available in the new portals.

What you need to do to prepare:

  • Microsoft 365 Defender – if you have already transitioned your workflows to work within the M365 Defender portal – nothing further is required.
If you are still working fully or partially out of the Office 365 Security & Compliance center, we recommend that you plan and complete your transition within the next 30 days, to avoid broken access experiences. This should also include updating any saved bookmarks. For additional information, see Microsoft Defender for Office 365 in Microsoft 365 Defender.
To learn more about the integrated experience and features, please refer to our blogs: Microsoft 365 Defender now delivers unified experiences across endpoint, email and collaboration and instructional video.
  • Microsoft 365 Compliance – if you have already transitioned your compliance workflows to the Microsoft Compliance Center – you are good to go!
If you are still working fully or partially out of the Office 365 Security & Compliance center, we recommend that you plan and complete your transition within the next 30 days, to avoid broken access experiences. This should also include updating any saved bookmarks.
For additional information, see Microsoft 365 compliance center
  • Microsoft Exchange Admin Center – if you have already transitioned your mail flow to work within the EAC – you are good to do!
If you are still working fully or partially out of the Office 365 Security & Compliance center, we recommend that you plan and complete your transition within the next 30 days, to avoid broken access experiences. This should also include updating any saved bookmarks.

Note: The transition to new portals does not impact the functionality of your existing security policies (like anti-spam policies), compliance policies, or your mail flow settings.
