New products supported by Auto-Claim Policy

Automating license assignments at a product level has never been easier. With an auto-claim policy in place, users can automatically claim a license for a product the first time that they sign into an app that requires a license. By using auto-claim policies, admins manage the products for which users can automatically claim licenses. You can also control which products those licenses come from.

We’re adding auto-claim policy support for Microsoft Project and PowerAutomate.

Admin Center notifications when users start trials

We are introducing the ability for admins to get oversight to users who initiate and deploy self-service trials. These are trials for Microsoft 365 products or features available with your Microsoft 365 subscription with no requirement to input payment information.

Going forward, if any End-User trial has been started for a product, you will receive an Admin Center notification that will quickly guide you to the “Your Products” page for your management.

Affected Teams behavior in Chrome due to privacy sandboxing

Starting in January, Chrome will begin gradually rolling out privacy sandboxing in the web to 1% of their users, with general rollout happening in late 2024. This will impact some Teams experiences in Chrome. The recommendation is to use the Teams desktop client if you are part of the rollout cohort.

WDAC Advanced Hunting Retired ActionTypes and Fields

Microsoft will be renaming the PolicyNameBuffer and PolicyIdBuffer fields in MDE Advanced Hunting WDAC events. These fields will be renamed to PolicyName and PolicyID, respectively. We will continue to improve the experience and richness of WDAC event data in Advanced Hunting.

New Feature: Alerts for Windows Autopatch policy conflicts Public Preview announcement

IT admins will be able to see, review and act on Intune policy conflicts that impact the Windows Autopatch service. When the Windows Autopatch service detects a policy or policies in the tenant that conflict with a setting or settings in another Intune device policy, Tenant admins must review conflicting policies, impacted settings and manually resolve the conflict/s so the Autopatch service can be restored to all service-managed devices.

Microsoft Teams: Archive channels

For a paused or completed project where owners want to preserve channel content, but no longer want to keep the channel active, they can archive channels now!

Archiving channels will be available for Teams users. You, as a channel owner or administrator can archive a channel you own. By archiving the channel, it will not be available in your and channel members teams and channels list anymore and no more actions will be allowed on the channel like messaging, reacting, commenting, editing etc. In case, you want, you can unarchive the channel as well, by going to manage teams > channels. Team members can hoist the channel in their left rail even after archival.

Service health and Message center: ‘Microsoft 365 Defender’ rebranding to ‘Microsoft Defender XDR’

We recently announced at Ignite that ‘Microsoft 365 Defender’ has been rebranded as ‘Microsoft Defender XDR’. As a continuation of that announcement, the service listings on Service health and Message center will also be rebranded. In the month of December, the service titled ‘Microsoft 365 Defender’ will be renamed to ‘Microsoft Defender XDR’.
