Migrate to the Authentication methods policy in Azure Active Directory by September 30, 2025

On September 30th, 2025 we will be retiring the ability to manage authentication methods in the legacy Multifactor Authentication (MFA) and Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) policies in Entra ID. Organizations should migrate their methods to the converged authentication methods policy where methods can be managed centrally for all authentication scenarios including passwordless, multi-factor authentication and self-service password reset.

SharePoint: UseRemoteAPIs functionality change

Today, we are announcing the removal of consideration for the UseRemoteAPIs permission within SharePoint Online. Meaning that while the setting remains in the UX for a short time, it will no longer be used as part of the authorization flow for API calls made to CSOM and classic REST APIs. Microsoft Teams Live Event Retirement

With the introduction of Town halls in Microsoft Teams, Teams Live Events will be retired for commercial customers on September 30, 2024. This provides commercial customers with a 12-month window to prepare for the retirement and transition off Teams Live Events.

Greenland DST changes 2023 update now available

Updates are now available to reflect the new 2023 DST changes in Greenland. As previously announced, Greenland’s standard time will permanently shift to UTC-2, which is the same time that has been observed since March 25, 2023. In 2024, Greenland will resume annual Daylight Saving Time between March and October by temporarily shifting from UTC-2 to UTC-1. In support of this decision, Microsoft has released Windows updates to the latest versions of Windows 11 and Windows 10 on September 26. All other supported versions of Windows will receive the update as part of the October 2023 monthly quality release. Office 365: Allow Applications to Access Information Barriers Sites (Preview)

We are excited to introduce a new capability for SharePoint and OneDrive Information Barriers.

With this feature, SharePoint administrators can opt-in to allow applications running in app-only mode (without user context) to access Information Barriers (IB) protected sites.  You can try this feature by enabling the control using SharePoint Online PowerShell module.

The September 2023 Windows non-security preview update is now available

The September 2023 non-security preview update is now available. These optional non-security previews are released only for Windows 10, version 22H2 and Windows 11, versions 21H2 and 22H2. Transition to Bing Chat Enterprise service plan by late November 2023

As referenced in MC665935 (September 2023), the Bing Chat Enterprise (BCE) service plan has been added to Bing Chat Enterprise-eligible Microsoft 365 licenses. The Bing Chat Enterprise service plan provides more granular management controls to turn Bing Chat Enterprise on or off for specific users or groups.

As a result, the previous Bing Chat Enterprise management controls found on the aka.ms admin pages (aka.ms/TurnOnBCE and aka.ms/TurnOffBCE) will no longer be available and access to Bing Chat Enterprise for your users will be based on selections made with the Bing Chat Enterprise service plan.

Viva Connections “Top News” Card Updated to Include More News Source Options

Improvements are coming to the Viva Connections Top News Card, which will be rebranded as the “News Card.” These enhancements will introduce greater configurability and the ability to create multiple News Card instances, while the default configuration will remain consistent with the Top News Card.
