Copilot for Microsoft 365: Direct connection to Microsoft SharePoint organization asset libraries

Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 now supports direct searches and downloads from SharePoint organization asset libraries for brand-approved content. Rollout starts mid-August 2024, with completion by early September 2024. Tenant admins must prepare by identifying brand content and using a new cmdlet for library consent.

Microsoft 365 Backup is now generally available

Microsoft 365 Backup will soon be available, enabling quick restoration of OneDrive, SharePoint, and Exchange Online data after cyberattacks. It’s accessible in the Microsoft admin center, requires a Microsoft Azure subscription, and will roll out from July 31st to mid-August 2024. No admin action is needed for the rollout.

Microsoft Clipchamp: Remove image background from videos

Microsoft Clipchamp will soon allow users to make image backgrounds transparent in videos without losing quality. This feature will be available to all users, with rollouts starting late July 2024 and completing by mid-August 2024. No admin action is required for the update.

Purview | Data Loss Prevention: Microsoft 365 Groups scoping in Teams DLP policy extend protection to 1:1/n chats

Microsoft 365 Groups in Teams DLP policy will now automatically include 1:1 and group chats for protection, without needing to add users or groups manually, except when using OCR. Rollout begins late August 2024, with completion by late September 2024. Admins should review their Teams DLP policies in preparation.

Microsoft OneDrive: Update for unlicensed accounts

OneDrive is updating storage policies for business and enterprise unlicensed accounts, effective late January to March 2025. Unlicensed accounts over 90 days will be archived and inaccessible to users but visible to admins. Actions include archiving, deletion, or renewal. Education tenants are currently exempt.

Microsoft Outlook: Contact deduplication

Outlook is updating to automatically hide exact or proper subset duplicate contacts, streamlining contact lists. The update will roll out from late August to September 2024 for Outlook on the web and new Outlook for Windows. Other Outlook clients will show all contacts, and synchronization will occur across all platforms. Hidden duplicates can be accessed and exported from classic Outlook clients. No admin action is required, but users should be informed.

Microsoft Outlook: Intelligent recap integration

The new Microsoft Outlook will integrate an AI-powered Intelligent recap feature from Microsoft Teams, allowing users to access AI-generated meeting notes and tasks directly from the Outlook calendar. This feature is available for new Outlook for Windows and the web, with full access depending on license status. Rollout begins mid-August 2024.

Power Platform – Coauthoring within the Canvas Designer announcement

We are announcing the public preview of coauthoring within Canvas Designer. With the new coauthoring feature, multiple makers can now author and edit the same canvas app in real time. This feature was made available for public preview starting on July 9th, 2024, and we plan to make it widely available by the end of 2024.
