Microsoft Teams Shared Device License on Mobile App for Android

We wanted to share an update on the previous Message center post (MC662254) we sent around support for Teams Shared Device License on Android Mobile. We are glad to announce that support for Teams Shared Device License on Android Mobile is generally available now on Teams mobile version >= 2023143401. Only Calling and Walkie Talkie apps are supported when the Android mobile application is signed into an account with Teams Shared Device license. To access other apps on Teams Android mobile including chats and channels, please assign eligible licenses to the account and remove the Teams Shared Device License.

Custom Backgrounds for Announcement Posts in Channels

Microsoft Teams users will soon be able to create custom backgrounds for their Announcement posts with the generative AI power of Microsoft Designer. For organizations with Teams Premium, users will have access to DALL-E, a text to image generator, which they can use for their backgrounds. This release of Custom Backgrounds for Announcement Posts will be rolling out across Microsoft Teams Desktop and Web for Channels 2.0 in English – US markets only. In line with current announcement behavior, Mobile will only support the consumption of custom backgrounds. Feature is disabled for EDU tenants while the team implements a policy setting.

Microsoft Teams: Private Line

We are introducing a new calling feature. With private line, users will be able to have a private second phone number that they can make available to a select set of callers to call them directly, bypassing delegates, admins, or assistants. Inbound calls to the private line will be distinguished by a unique notification and ringtone. The private line will support incoming calls only.

Viva Engage AMA Events Enables Private AMA and Now Allows Multiple Hosts and Organizers

Today Viva Engage AMAs only allow for AMA Events that are public and open to the entire organization, though they might only be promoted to specific groups of people they could be discovered and accessed by anyone in the organization. With this update, AMA Events will now allow you to make your event private and only accessible to a specific list of attendees. Additionally, we will also be releasing a way for you to add up to 10 hosts and organizers to help expand the types of events you can host and make moderation easier.

Microsoft Stream: Collaborative notes in Teams meeting recordings

This feature enables users to view and edit collaborative meeting notes while watching Teams meeting recordings in Stream. Collaborative notes allow meeting attendees to co-create and collaborate on their meeting agenda, notes, and action items. Since Collaborative notes are a Loop component, it is always in sync regardless of how many places they live in. Assigned tasks in collaborative meeting notes automatically sync with To Do & Planner.

Audit – New Stream Logs for Microsoft Purview Audit Standard Users

Microsoft Purview is expanding access to wider cloud security activity events for Microsoft Stream. As part of the changes, standard users of Purview Audit will begin to generate 5 new Microsoft Stream events that were previously generated only for Audit Premium licensed users. The following events will now be provided for all Audit Standard users:

  2. StreamInvokeChannelView
  3. StreamInvokeGettExtTrack
  4. StreamInvokeGetVideo
