Microsoft Teams: New policy for voice and face enrollment defaulting to ‘On’

Microsoft Teams is introducing a new policy for voice and face enrollment, defaulting to ‘On’ for enhanced meeting features. Rollout begins early October 2024, with the policy enabled in January 2025. Admins have until mid-January 2025 to adjust settings. The csTeamsAIPolicy will replace csTeamsMeetingPolicy, offering separate EnrollFace and EnrollVoice settings.

Microsoft Word: Loop components released to Targeted Release customers have retired

The Loop components feature in Microsoft Word for the web, introduced to Targeted Release customers in December 2022, has been retired. Users can no longer insert new Loop components, but existing ones will work as usual. Loop components remain available in other apps and the Loop application.

Microsoft Teams: Users can opt-in to try the new calendar in Teams

The new calendar in Teams combines rich productivity features and the latest innovations like Microsoft Copilot, to help users more seamlessly manage their schedules, prepare for and recap meetings, and even identify optimal days for in-office collaboration. The new calendar in Teams is designed to be familiar and reliable, as it’s one unified calendar that works across new Outlook for Windows, Outlook on the web, Microsoft Places, and now Microsoft Teams. With this update, users will see the ‘New calendar’ toggle at the top right of the calendar app in Teams. New calendar is off by default, and users can toggle to try the new experience.

(Reminder) Microsoft Teams displays impacted by retirement of CNS Service API support: Upgrade Required

Support for the legacy services infrastructure for chat messaging in Microsoft Teams displays will end on September 30, 2024. Devices must be updated to version 1449/1.0.95.2024062804 or later to avoid disruptions. Updates can be manual or automatic, with automatic updates scheduled outside of normal business hours.

SharePoint: Enterprise Application Insights for SharePoint sites

Enterprise Application Insights is a powerful report which helps SharePoint Administrators to discover all the SharePoint sites that are allowed access by third-party applications registered in your tenant. The report also provides details on the application’s permission and requests count to help admins take further action to strengthen the security of the site.

It is part of SharePoint Advanced Management capabilities.

Microsoft Outlook: Adding security to feedback policy checks across all user accounts

Microsoft Outlook is enhancing security by making feedback policy checks more restrictive across all user accounts. Eligibility for feedback submission will be based on the most restrictive policy value among a user’s accounts. This change will start rolling out in late September 2024 for Targeted Release and in late October 2024 for General Availability. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Microsoft Teams: Vote on and archive Questions in Teams Q&A

Question voting allows instance participants to upvote the most important questions and sort by highest votes or recent activity. This gives moderators the ability to derive insights from the audience about what topics they care the most about and address them. Additionally, for questions that might be outdated or irrelevant, moderators can move them to a separate feed to ensure that presenters can focus on providing the most value to attendees.
