Classic Exchange Admin Center (EAC) Retirement Announcement

In MC252053 (April 2021), we announced the general availability of the new Exchange admin center (EAC). The new EAC offers a faster, more secure, and more intelligent modern admin experience than the classic EAC and is helping admins work more efficiently. With the new EAC capable of assuming this responsibility and more, today we are at the next stage of our journey, and we are announcing the retirement of the classic EAC that will be fully retired on September 1, 2022.

This will be carried out in phases as we move forward. The initial phase will be moving the features under Protection to the Microsoft 365 Defender portal.

Direct app purchases and invoice billing support in Teams Admin Center

Teams Admins will soon be able to purchase third-party app subscriptions worldwide directly in Teams Admin Center through the “Plans and pricing” feature. Payment methods include invoice billing and credit card purchases. Private plans will be available for purchase with privately-negotiated rates between ISVs and your organization.

Allow users who aren’t admins to install language accessory packs

By default, users must have local administrator permissions on their devices to install language accessory packs for Office. A policy setting is now available that you can enable to allow users to install language accessory packs, even if they don’t have local administrator permissions. This policy setting is named “Allow users who aren’t admins to install language accessory packs” and is available in Group Policy and in the Office cloud policy service.

Microsoft Forms: New Mobile Friendly Experience for Form Creation/Analysis

Form designers who create forms and analyze results from Mobile will now have a much more mobile friendly experience that is optimized for their device, making Forms even easier to use. This will be available to New forms and Existing forms in the browser first and then a few weeks later in the Office Mobile app.

Microsoft Teams: Enable Teams users to purchase app subscriptions through the Teams app store

Updated September 07, 2021: We have updated the message to provide additional clarity. Thank you for your feedback.

At Build 2021 we announced the ability for Teams users to purchase third-party app subscriptions directly from the Teams app store. From within the store, users can view subscription plans offered and go through the checkout process to pay with a credit card.

Microsoft Teams: Real time data for Teams Meetings in Teams Admin Center (Preview)

This new release (preview) of Real-time telemetry metrics for Admin will help you identify issues during a Teams meeting.

Note: This feature will be available for all customers as part of the Teams preview. Beginning in January, 2022 the Advanced Communications add-on license will be required.

In the coming months, personal productivity and wellbeing insights that are currently available to users via the daily briefing email, MyAnalytics digest email, and Insights Outlook add-in will be updated to reflect the Microsoft Viva brand. Microsoft Viva is a new employee experience platform that empowers people and teams to be their best from anywhere. Powered by Microsoft 365 and experienced in the flow of work through Microsoft Teams and Outlook, Microsoft Viva brings together communications, knowledge, learning, resources, and insights.

Retirement of (Azure AD) Graph and license assignment operations and updates to license management APIs and PowerShell

Today, as communicated on Tech Community, we are providing a reminder that the end of support for Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) Graph will be on June 30, 2022. Apps using Azure AD Graph after this time will no longer receive responses from the Azure AD Graph endpoint.

Since the Azure AD Graph APIs are being retired, we are also retiring the license assignment operation in the MSOnline and Azure AD PowerShell modules.

(Updated) Retiring Teams mobile support for devices running on iOS version 13 and below

Updated August 31, 2021: We have updated the timeline below. Thank you for your patience.

We will be retiring the Teams mobile support on iOS version 13 and below. Instead we recommend that users upgrade to newer iOS builds, which is where we will continue to invest our development resources. We will also begin encouraging users to update to the newest version of Teams if they’re running builds older than 1 year.
