Originally announced in MC219641 (July ’20), as Microsoft Teams has become the core communications client for Microsoft 365, this is a reminder the Skype for Business Online service will retire July 31, 2021. At that point, access to the service will end.

Yammer and SharePoint for Business: Yammer Conversations Web Part V3

We have updated the Yammer Conversations web part for SharePoint to add new configuration options including:

  • New horizontal layout – showcase Yammer conversations from your community, topic or user horizontally, making it easier to see many conversations at once
  • New filter option to show only Questions or All Conversations – showcase recent questions from a community or topic​
  • New configuration option to show or hide the Yammer publisher– curate the content displayed

Teams Mobile – Large Gallery in meetings update

The “Large Gallery” layout for meetings on Teams mobile is getting an upgrade! This layout will become mobile-optimized, letting you swipe through all the participants in a meeting. This is rolling out on the Teams iOS and Android app.

End-to-end encryption for Teams calling

End-to-end encryption is the encryption of information at its origin and decryption at its intended destination without the ability for intermediate nodes to decrypt. Teams will support an option to use end-to-end encryption (E2EE) for ad hoc 1:1 Teams VoIP calls. To support customer security and compliance requirements, IT will have full control of who can use E2EE in the organization.

New Communication Compliance features: Teams conversation context

Post on behalf of capability coming to Yammer

This new “Post on behalf of another user” feature will allow Yammer users to assign other users in their network as their delegates. All users in the Yammer network will be able to add other users in the same network as their delegate.

Microsoft Bookings – toggle to test the new experience

Microsoft Bookings is getting a new experience and users can start accessing the preview with a toggle on the top right that says Try the new Bookings. Once this toggle is turned on, users can see and try the new experience.

Edit a SharePoint page or news post in Microsoft Teams

This feature will allow users to edit modern SharePoint pages or news posts within Teams experience. Users can now pin a Page or News Post to a Teams channel and make edits without leaving Teams.

Exchange Admins can now use Integrated Apps in Microsoft Admin Center

Now Exchange Admin can access the Integrated apps experience in Microsoft Admin center under the Settings tab from where they can directly discover, deploy and manage Microsoft 365 add-ins. If the add-ins are part of M365 Apps developed by Microsoft partners they will also be able to discover other apps and deploy those add-ins, they have permissions to.
