We are improving the meeting join experience on mobile by 1) streamlining the meeting join process by reducing the number of steps it takes to join the meeting, particularly for users joining from externally of the organization, 2) users who join without signing in will now have the capability to preset and preview video / audio settings prior to joining the meeting, and 3) simplifying the join process for users with multiple accounts by improving the account switching user experience.

Suppressing Authenticator Notifications from Risky Sources

The proposed approach seeks to streamline the authentication process by suppressing authenticator notifications for requests originating from unfamiliar locations. By intelligently identifying risky sources like unknown IP addresses, the system can effectively differentiate potential malicious attempts from legitimate ones. This suppression of notifications will apply to both Phone-Sign in and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) notifications.

Today, Entra ID (Azure AD) Multifactor Authentication supports delivering one-time passcodes (OTPs) via text message. These texts get sent to the default messaging app on a user’s phone depending on the phone’s operating system. To help deliver OTPs to users on their preferred messaging platform, Entra ID will roll out delivery to WhatsApp in select regions.

New Stream (on SharePoint) web part release

This is an important message for customers who publish videos to SharePoint Pages and news posts. As noted in Message Center post MC561187, the Stream (Classic) webpart in SharePoint will be retired on August 15, 2023.

The Stream (on SharePoint) web part will support configuration of a single video and multiple videos for videos stored in OneDrive or SharePoint.

Microsoft Syntex gives you the ability to automatically tag documents that reside on SharePoint libraries with terms configured in Taxonomy store using AI. These keywords are stored in a managed metadata (a.k.a Taxonomy) column on the item, making the documents easier to search, sort, filter, and manage.

New Power BI OneDrive and SharePoint Viewer Admin Setting to be ON by Default

A new admin setting will appear soon in the Power BI admin portal for Power BI Desktop OneDrive and SharePoint integration. The new setting is titled “Users can view Power BI files saved in OneDrive and SharePoint (Preview) – UPDATE“. This setting will be ON by default starting in early October unless you take action before September 29th, 2023. The setting will have the exact same functionality as the current setting for “Users can view Power BI items saved in OneDrive and SharePoint (Preview)“.
