Microsoft Defender for Office 365: Updated submission results in ThreatSubmissionAPI

The message details updates to Microsoft Defender for Office 365’s ThreatSubmissionAPI, enhancing submission results for better clarity and actionability. These updates apply to email, Teams messages, attachments, URLs, and user reports. The API remains in beta, with a global release date to be announced. Rollout starts early August 2024. Users should check their API setup for necessary changes.

Changes to Topics in Viva Engage

In February 2024, Viva Engage will simplify its topics model and retire integration with Viva Topics. Premium and management experiences will be removed, but users can still create, edit, and follow topics. Rollout begins August 2024, with all migrations completed by April 2025.

CrowdStrike issue impacting Windows endpoints causing an error message on a blue screen

Updated on July 21, 2024: As a follow-up to the CrowdStrike Falcon agent issue impacting Windows clients and servers, Microsoft has released an updated recovery tool with two repair options to help IT admins expedite the repair process. Based on customer feedback, this new release includes a new option for recovery using safe boot, the option to generate ISO or USB, a fix for ADK detection when the Windows Driver Kit is installed, and a fix for the USB disk size check. Microsoft 365 admin center: Self-service purchase notifications

Starting July 2024, Microsoft 365 admins will receive notifications for self-service purchases made by users. This feature provides awareness, actionable insights, and is on by default. Admins can manage or cancel subscriptions and should familiarize themselves with the self-service purchase FAQ and policy. Rollout completes by late August 2024. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Intune moving to support Android 10 and later for user-based management methods in October 2024

In October 2024, Intune will only support Android 10 and later for user-based management methods. Devices on Android 9 or earlier will not receive technical support, bug fixes, or guaranteed feature functionality. Admins should prepare by updating support statements and configuring relevant policies.

Introducing Windows 11 checkpoint cumulative updates

In late 2024, checkpoint cumulative updates will be introduced for devices running Windows 11, version 24H2 or later and Windows Server 2025. This means that updating your Windows devices will involve smaller update files, resulting in a quicker and more efficient update experience. You will begin to receive checkpoint cumulative updates automatically, with no action required from you.
