Microsoft Teams: Required Updates coming to Android-based Microsoft Teams devices

In February 2025, all certified Microsoft Teams Android devices will receive mandatory updates. Admins must download the latest app updates from the Teams admin center. Devices not updated within five months by June 2025 will cease functioning. The rollout will not affect end-user experience. Preparation for updates is advised.

The new Microsoft Outlook for Windows will soon allow users to move emails between mailboxes and PST files. Rollout starts mid-January 2025, with full availability by late April 2025. Organizations can manage PST file support via OutlookDataFile mailbox policy. No admin action is required before rollout.

Microsoft Defender for Identity: New recommendations for Microsoft Secure Score

Microsoft Secure Score will update with new Microsoft Defender for Identity recommendations to better reflect security posture. Two new recommendations are being added for Entra Connect accounts, which will affect the Secure Score. Rollouts begin mid-January 2025 for Public Preview and mid-February 2025 for General Availability. No admin action is required for the update.

New deployments of Microsoft 365 desktop client apps to include new Outlook

Microsoft 365 desktop client apps’ new deployments will now include new Outlook. Rollout starts late February 2025, with completion by early March 2025. Administrators can configure deployments to include/exclude new Outlook, which will be on by default. Existing “try new Outlook” policies remain unaffected. Further details are in the updated documentation.

Microsoft Exchange Online: New “Message trace” functionality (public preview)

The Public Preview of the new “Message trace” feature in Microsoft Exchange Online will begin rolling out in mid-December 2024, with extended query range, subject and delivery status filters, customizable columns, and cmdlet changes. Admins can toggle the feature off if needed and should update to the latest PowerShell module version.
