The Microsoft Viva Connections app will be renamed to Connections to fit better in Microsoft Teams. The rollout starts mid-January 2025 and ends by mid-February 2025. Customizations remain if already made. No admin action is required, but users should be informed.

Plan for Change: Removing ‘Incomplete user enrollment’ report from Intune

Starting mid-April 2025, the ‘Incomplete user enrollment’ report and related Graph APIs will be removed from Intune. Users should update documentation, inform admins, and transition to using the ‘Enrollment failures report’ for enrollment failure details.

Microsoft Defender for Office: Updates to AIR-initiated remediation logging

Microsoft Defender for Office will update logging for AIR-initiated remediation actions to provide more clarity. This will affect logging in Threat Explorer, Advanced Hunting, and email entities. The rollout begins early February 2025 and completes by mid-February. No admin action is required before the rollout.

Microsoft Search: The old Search usage reports will retire

The old Search usage reports in Microsoft 365 will be retired on April 1, 2025. Users should download necessary old reports by March 31, 2025, and familiarize themselves with the new reports, which cannot be reverted to the old format. Feedback on the new reports is welcomed.

New Outlook to be pre-installed on Windows 10 devices

The new Outlook will be pre-installed on Windows 10 devices with the optional January 28, 2025 release, and the February 11, 2025 security update. It will exist alongside classic Outlook without altering configurations or defaults. Preparation guidance is available for controlling the installation.

Microsoft defender for Office 365: Tool tips and pointers in the Quarantine portal

Microsoft Defender for Office 365 is introducing tooltips and pointers in the Quarantine portal to assist admins. Rollout completion is mid-December 2024 worldwide, and by late January 2025 for GCC, GCC High, DoD. No admin action is required for this automatic update.

Exposure Management Recommendations Retirement

Certain SSPM recommendations from Exposure Management in the Defender portal will be retired to ensure accurate security posture representation. This will start in mid-February 2025 and complete by mid-March 2025. The retirement includes various recommendations, and no action is needed to prepare for this change.

Microsoft Teams: New transcription policies for town halls and webinars

New transcription policies for Microsoft Teams town halls and webinars will allow finer control and won’t follow the current Teams meeting transcription policies. They will be configurable in the Teams admin center or with PowerShell commands after mid-February 2025. Admins should prepare by updating policy values accordingly.
