Microsoft Purview compliance portal: Insider Risk Management – SharePoint site selection enhancement

With this update, Insider Risk Management admins can add any SharePoint sites as priority content or exclude certain SharePoint sites in Insider Risk Management policies by searching the site names or using the exact URLs. 

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, such as IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.

Audit – New default retention for Audit (Standard)

The default retention period for Microsoft Purview Audit (Standard) will change from 90 days to 180 days. The default retention period for Audit (Premium) remains at 1 year.

Self-service trial experience available for Microsoft Purview

Beginning in mid-October, users in your organization will be able to initiate a self-service trial of Microsoft Purview using their Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) credentials. Administrators have the option to opt their organization out of this trial offering, however if your organization allows it you will have full visibility and control. 

With this update, end users will be able to start a trial and generate signals on utilization for admins to identify users that would benefit from a Microsoft Purview license. Enabling this trial will not require your users to input payment information.

Outlook: New feedback experience

The feedback entry point for Outlook for Web will be moving from the bottom of the Help pane to the Help tab of the ribbon, for ease of discovery. A streamlined experience, diagnostics log collection and the ability to add screenshots and video make it easier and quicker for users to describe their feedback and helps Microsoft act on it. Also, users can search for information related to their feedback, including updates on features under development, workarounds for problems and how-to from Help. This change obeys the general Feedback policy.
