Microsoft Defender Antivirus: Change to exclusion storage when using MDE configuration management

Starting March 2026, Microsoft Defender Antivirus with MDE configuration management will stop storing readable exclusion values in the local registry. Organizations must use supported PowerShell cmdlets like Get-MpPreference to retrieve antivirus settings. Registry-based monitoring will no longer work for affected devices.

Microsoft Teams: Ad-hoc room reservation from Teams Rooms on Android console

Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android will support ad-hoc room reservations directly from the device with a Teams Rooms Pro license, starting mid-March 2026. Users can reserve rooms quickly via the calendar, with admin controls to enable or restrict this feature. No prior action is needed before rollout.

Microsoft Purview | Insider Risk Management – Ability to create cases without content in IRM

Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management will allow creating cases without content download, introducing a new active case limit of 2000 while keeping the content download limit at 100. This feature rolls out from late February 2026 (preview) to late June 2026 (general availability).

Exchange Web Services (EWS) retirement update

Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online will be phased out starting October 1, 2026, with full retirement by April 1, 2027, replaced by Microsoft Graph. Organizations must migrate workflows, configure AppID AllowList to continue EWS use after October 2026, or face permanent EWS access removal.
