(Reminder) Microsoft 365 admin center: Admins can no longer receive user passwords in email as of August 30, 2024

Starting August 30, 2024, Microsoft 365 admin center will retire the ‘Send password in email’ feature. Admins should use the ‘Print’ option for secure sharing of user account details. This update is a reminder from an earlier announcement and no action is required from admins.

ActiveX will be disabled by default in Microsoft Office 2024

ActiveX will be disabled by default in Office 2024, affecting Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio. This change occurs in October 2024 for Office 2024 and begins in April 2025 for Microsoft 365 apps. Users can re-enable ActiveX by adjusting Trust Center Settings, the registry, or group policy settings.

Exchange is updating property size and count limits, effective in two phases from late September to late November 2024. Organizations must adhere to these new limits and prepare accordingly. Phase 1 includes limits for properties like CloudMSExchUCVoiceMailSettings, while Phase 2 includes CloudMSRtcPolicyAssignments, among others.

Viva Connections: Manage your organization’s brand in the new Brand center

Microsoft is introducing a new SharePoint Brand center to manage organizational branding across sites and pages. It centralizes brand asset management, enabling brand consistency. The rollout began in April 2024, with general availability expected by mid-October 2024. Global administrators must activate the Brand center app in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Teams copy/paste of messages does not include timestamp and message author name

Teams has removed timestamps and author names from copied messages to reduce clutter. Users who need detailed message transfer should use the Forward feature or Teams Export API. This change is already in effect, and organizations may need to update training materials accordingly.

Product transitions to the cloud.microsoft domain – August 2024

Microsoft products Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are now available on the cloud.microsoft domain, which will soon redirect from previous domains. No user action is needed as links are backwards compatible. Organizations should update references and ensure *.cloud.microsoft is unblocked to prepare for this transition.
