Prevent/Fix: PnP PowerShell authentication failures

Recent changes to PnP PowerShell are causing authentication failures. Users experiencing errors with the PnP Management Shell app must create their own Entra application. Resolution involves updating PnP PowerShell, creating an Entra application, and setting an environment variable with the application ID. PnP PowerShell is community-supported, not officially by Microsoft.

Moving file and conversation settings to the Viva Engage admin center

Microsoft Viva is transferring file and conversation settings from the Yammer admin center to the Viva Engage admin center. Rollout starts late October 2024, with completion by mid-November 2024, enhancing performance without disrupting current functions. Admins will manage file upload permissions, GIFs, URL metadata, message translation, and private messages. No action is needed before the rollout.

Service health and Message center: Azure Information Protection consolidation

Azure Information Protection communications will be consolidated under Microsoft Purview in Service Health and Message Center by September 2024. Organizations should update training and documentation, and configure email preferences to include Microsoft Purview for related notifications.

Take action: Enable multifactor authentication for your tenant before October 15, 2024

Enable multifactor authentication (MFA) for your tenant by October 15, 2024, to access Microsoft Azure portal, Microsoft Entra admin center, and Microsoft Intune admin center. Postponement is possible, but without MFA, admin sign-in will prompt MFA registration.

Retirement: Investigation priority score feature

The ‘Investigation priority score’ feature in Microsoft Defender is retiring from mid-September to late October 2024. SOC administrators and analysts will need to use ‘Entra risk score’ instead and are advised to consult provided Microsoft Entra ID Protection resources for preparation.

Microsoft Purview: Message Encryption portal transitioning to the “.microsoft” domain by the end of 2024

The Microsoft Purview Message Encryption portal is moving to the “.microsoft” domain by late 2024. Users will be redirected to the new domain automatically, with no action required. Organizations should update references and ensure the new domain is not blocked. The portal’s design will also be updated.

30-Day Reminder: Upcoming end of servicing date for some editions of Windows 11, versions 21H2 and 22H2

On October 8, 2024, Windows 11, version 21H2 (Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions) and Windows 11, version 22H2 (Home and Pro editions) will reach end of servicing. The upcoming October 2024 security update, to be released on October 8, 2024, will be the last update available for these editions. After this date, devices running these editions will no longer receive monthly security and preview updates containing protections from the latest security threats.

Microsoft Teams displays impacted by retirement of CNS Service API support: Upgrade Required

Teams displays must be updated to version 1449/1.0.95.2024062804 before September 30, 2024, due to the retirement of legacy services infrastructure for chat messaging. Users should utilize manual or automatic updates via the Teams admin center to avoid disruptions. Automatic updates will occur outside normal business hours.
