Microsoft Teams: Explicit Consent policy for Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365

Microsoft Teams introduces an Explicit Consent policy for user content in meetings, requiring participant agreement for audio and video use in transcription, recording, or Microsoft Copilot. Organizations can enable this policy through the Teams Admin Center. Rollout starts mid-June 2024, with completion by late June 2024.

Plan for Change: New RBAC permissions for endpoint security policies

New RBAC permissions for endpoint security policies are being introduced, allowing more granularity. The ‘Security baselines’ permission will be updated to include only specific workloads, with others getting their own permissions. No immediate action is required as Intune will update permissions automatically. Stay tuned for release details.

Keep your Microsoft Teams desktop client compliant by updating it

Microsoft Teams desktop client must be updated to comply with the Modern Lifecycle Policy. Unsupported versions will receive notifications or blocking pages starting June 19th, 2024. Admins should ensure regular updates for service reliability and feature compatibility. Non-compliance may lead to service degradation or incompatibility.

Watch now: Microsoft Graph brings you programatic access to Windows information

In response to customer feedback about the need for faster, automated access to information about Windows updates, two new data classes have been released in the Windows Updates API, allowing access to Windows known issues and product lifecycle in Graph API. The Windows updates API gathers data published on the Windows release health pages, which are located on both the Microsoft Learn site and the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Decoupling Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Process form Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on Windows Devices

Starting June 2024, Microsoft Purview DLP will be separated from Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on Windows devices. This backend change will not affect the deployment process. Customers will see two distinct processes for DLP and Defender instead of one, improving stability and performance. No action is required for most customers.

Copilot for Microsoft 365: Language selection only during a meeting

Copilot for Microsoft 365 will allow language selection during a Teams meeting even without activating transcripts or captions. This feature, available when ‘Allow Copilot’ is set to ‘Only during the meeting’, will ensure responses are in the chosen language. Rollout begins mid-June 2024, with no admin action required.

Disabling IDCRL library based authentication for SharePoint Designer Online

The message informs that the IDCRL authentication for SharePoint Designer will be retired on June 15, 2024. Users must follow steps in a Microsoft Community Support Article to enable modern authentication for continued use of SharePoint Designer.

Retirement of Office 365 connectors from SharePoint Online Webparts

Office 365 connectors will be retired from SharePoint Online Webparts due to limited use. New connections cannot be created after June 15, 2024, and existing connections cannot be updated or managed after August 1, 2024. Organizations should update training and documentation accordingly.
