Microsoft Teams: Personalize group chats with avatars

In Microsoft Teams, we are introducing custom avatars for group chats. Group chat members will be able to upload their own image or select a built-in image or emoji, to add a layer of inclusivity and expression to their chat as well as helping visually identity chats with similar titles or participants.

Microsoft Teams | Task publishing: Schedule recurring lists and several top requests

The task publishing experience allows frontline organizations to distribute tasks across employees spread across geographically dispersed locations and then monitor how that work is going. Task publishing is available in Microsoft Teams as part of the Tasks by Planner and To Do app, which will soon be renamed to Planner.

Microsoft Teams: Meeting ID and passcode required to join on Teams Rooms on Android

For organizations with a Teams Room Pro license, the room admin will be able to configure and require a meeting ID and passcode to join a meeting from Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android to ensure higher levels of security and privacy. This means that, if you have configured the room to use this feature, the room user is required to enter the meeting ID and passcode when selecting the Join button from the Teams Room calendar.

Microsoft Teams: Updated labels for external participants in meetings

In our continuous drive to increase the security of Microsoft Teams meetings, we are updating the labels for the participants’ names. To bring in consistency and accuracy to the user labels, we are introducing the term Unverified, which will be seen for all meeting participants who do not have a trusted relationship with the organizer. All participants who are not part of the organizer’s organization but are configured as a trusted relationship with the organizer will continue to be termed as External.

Additionally, we are ensuring that all areas within Team meetings – lobby, participant roster, meeting chat, and so on – will consistently show accurate user labels.
