Microsoft Purview | Data Security Posture Management for AI Fabric integration in data risk assessment

Microsoft Purview DSPM (preview) will add a Fabric tab for Data Risk Assessment to detect and manage oversharing of sensitive data in Microsoft Fabric workspaces. Rolling out mid-April to early May 2026, admins must enable scanning and can then view and secure Fabric artifacts like dashboards and reports.

Microsoft Teams: Book future meetings from Microsoft Teams panels (Android)

Microsoft Teams will allow booking future meetings directly from Android-based Teams panel devices starting early May 2026. This feature, off by default, requires admin activation and supports adding guests. It applies to Teams Rooms Pro and Shared Device licensed rooms, streamlining scheduling without switching devices.

Microsoft Teams: Quick access to read items while using unread only mode

Microsoft Teams will introduce an eye icon in unread only mode to quickly access read chats and channels without changing filters. Rolling out worldwide from early to mid-May 2026, this feature is enabled by default, requires no admin action, and improves navigation while keeping the unread list visible.

Extended Security Updates (ESU) available for Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016

If your organization relies on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016, you know it’s nearing end of support on October 13, 2026. While the long-term solution is upgrading to a newer LTSC release, another temporary solution is available as of April 1, 2026. Extended Security Updates (ESU) are now available for purchase through Volume Licensing or a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP).

ESR management is moving to Windows Backup for Organizations

Starting May 2026, Enterprise State Roaming (ESR) management will transition to Windows Backup for Organizations. Windows Backup for Organizations is the enterprise‑grade solution for backing up and restoring Windows user settings and Microsoft Store app list. It’s designed to support device refresh, replacement, and upgrade scenarios (for example, moving to the latest version of Windows 11). ESR settings remain the same in scope. The only change is in how you manage these settings.

Upcoming change: Microsoft 365 Apps SAEC and MEC will unify

Starting July 14, 2026, Microsoft will unify the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel (SAEC) and Monthly Enterprise Channel (MEC) for Microsoft 365 Apps into a single enterprise update channel, simplifying update management without changing existing policies or user workflows. No action is required.

SharePoint Advanced Management: Delegate management of Restricted Access Control (RAC) to site admins

SharePoint now allows delegation of Restricted Access Control (RAC) management to site admins, requiring justification for changes.
