Shared voicemails for Microsoft Teams Call Queues will be managed directly in the Teams Queues app starting late April 2026, improving visibility and collaboration. Queue members can listen, read transcripts, and update voicemail status. This requires Teams Phone and Teams Premium licenses. No changes to Outlook voicemail experience.

Auto upgrade of shared calendars from legacy MAPI model to modern REST model

Microsoft will auto-upgrade shared calendars in Exchange Online from the legacy MAPI model to the modern REST model between April and July 2026. The seamless, server-side upgrade improves sync reliability without user action, preserves permissions, excludes events older than one year initially, and requires no Outlook restart.

Microsoft Teams: Live chat will be renamed to Customer Connect

Microsoft Teams will rename Live chat to Customer Connect starting late April 2026, completing by May 2026. This is a name change only, with no functional or configuration changes. Existing teams remain unchanged; new users will see Customer Connect. No action is required, but updating documentation is recommended.

Team site homepages will automatically collapse inactive News web parts

SharePoint team site homepages will automatically collapse the News web part if the homepage is inactive for 30 days and no news is published. This default behavior begins rolling out in late April 2026, allowing users to expand or restore the News section by editing or publishing content.

Surveys agent is being renamed to Forms agent

The Surveys agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot will be renamed to Forms agent between late April and May 2026. This is a naming and visual update only, with no functional changes. Users need a Microsoft 365 Copilot (Premium) license. No action is required, but informing staff and updating documentation is recommended.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: Change in accessing additional agents in Excel

Starting late April 2026, Excel users with Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses can access additional Copilot agents via the “…” menu in the header. The chat-only experience remains unchanged, no admin action is needed, and existing licensing and policies continue to apply.
